Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More
Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.
Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.
Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!
I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

Good suggestion about the thermometer. I should have thought about that.
Tried the air fryer toast setting and it’s the same as the toaster.
@2011panc, don’t be so confident that I’m progressing nicely. Nearly threw it out yesterday.
I braved going grocery shopping today and got a steak to cook in it, we’ll see how that goes. I predict not very good. Oh well, at least I’m use to things turning out wrong so no biggie.

Hello kiddo!
I was thinking that a airdoor electric grill might be the answer to your prayers. On days you don’t want to use a air fryer or slow cooker, you can cook your steaks, chicken or pork. I’ve even made foil packets to grill. Yummy!
@margieinia
Hi there Marg,
“airdoor electric grill might be the answer to your prayers.” Nope afraid not, the answer to my prayers would be be a full time cook housekeeper and Gardner. But short of that it might help out, sure can’t hurt, guess that statement might be a bit premature. What is Airdoor, a brand? I couldn’t find it online. I looked at some indoor grills and they say smokeless, wait till get through with one, lol
Jake
I’m so sorry, I meant to spell indoor grills that are smokeless. I’m upstairs right now, how about tomorrow morning when I go downstairs to make my coffee I will check the brand I have and message you again. Again I’m so sorry about my confusion tonight.
@margieinia
No biggie, I knew what you meant. I just thought it might be a brand around your neck of the woods.
Jake
@jakedduck1 I can be confident that you are progressing nicely. I have been following your struggles with cooking and eating and have noted the changes you are making -- even if you can't tell while you are in the middle of it all. I have learned to recognize every accomplishment, no matter how small. It helps me hold on when I start getting overwhelmed. I think to myself, "at least I did *___* today." It may be as small as not wetting myself, but today that did not happen. [Yes, some days are really that bad] So bless my heart and yours. You are braver than you know and showing it daily.
@merpreb I consider tomatoes one of my "spices", along with onions, carrots, celery, ginger, soy (although very little) and sometimes green peppers. It does so many things. The one I most love is that it tenderizes meat while on a slow braise without have to add sugar or other questionable "tenderizers."
@jakeduck1
Hi,
I have had a DeLonghi grill/griddle for years that I like . It’s flat on one side for veggies, eggs , pancakes etc. and ribbed on the other side for meats and chicken. Temp goes from warm to sear when preheated. Great for a small family or just one person as it’s a nice size but not too big and I store mine in the pantry. It’s coated and easy to clean but I don’t recommend putting it in the dishwasher even though the instructions say you can..it’s too easy to clean by hand.
Maybe something like this indoor grill/griddle and a toaster oven (if you don’t have one) plus the microwave is all you need.....and the meat thermometer also. It’s easy and speedy to cook for one like I do. You don’t need to spend so much time in the kitchen with the right appliances unless you’re cooking an elaborate meal. You can do mini meat loaves and baked potatoes in the toaster oven. Or buy frozen roasted potatoes and pop into the toaster oven while your grill is,preheating. As always read the ingredients.
