Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More
Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.
Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.
Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!
I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

Linda- What would we all do without tomatoes?
@lioness @contentandwell @parus (yes, and even @jakedduck1) and all meatloaf lovers. I've also used Heinz chili sauce. It has onions and spices in it that give meatloaf a great flavor. It tends to be sweet rather than overly spicy. Gives meatloaf a flavorful zing! (The generic store brands are not nearly as flavorful so I keep with the brand name.) Here's to great meatloaf. Bon Appetit!
I have even been known to add chopped apples or raisins to meatloaf. Especially tasty with ground turkey. May need to be making one. I am making myself hungry. Oh and do not forget the Ritz! Oatmeal works well for those on low salt diets. I use sprout bread crumbs with low sodium.
@merpreb Dont know thongs eoulf be bland
@hopeful33250 Thats right its got to be Heinz
@merpreb I love Ina Garten and when I googled turkey meatloaf she had a recipe out there too. I didn't look at the ingredients, she always uses salt and thinks it's an absolute necessity, but I don't agree with her there. I have two of Martha's cookbooks, but they are older and I think that the recipes were more elaborate than meatloaf.

JK- I love her. She'll use a lot of butter to. But her recipes are great. Except for baking, which I hardly ever do for fear of a TIA , I always change something in a recipe, either ingredients or time...
@merpreb Why would baking cause a TIA?
@hopeful33250 @lioness My mother would only use Bennett's which is hard to find now. It is the best though, it's chunkier. I just googled it and it is available in Target apparently, but also on Amazon. I generally keep things I want to buy in my shopping cart on Amazon until I have enough there to get free shipping. I don't think Prime would be worth it to me.

@contentandwell Sometimes my recipes get adventurous when making meatloaf or soups or stews. I remember one time using leftover homemade minestrone soup in my meatloaf because that's what I had on hand. It truly was a kitchen sink meatloaf. But it turned out pretty dang good.

You all are making me hungry! This conversation also brought back memories of when I was about to get married. My mom gave my soon-to-be bride a small recipe book of her ‘favorites’. My wife was 100% Italian and was an amaxing cook (she was even was published in Better Homes & Gardens). As she read my mom’s recipes for the first time later that night she gasped and said to me “Scott, do you realize every one of your mom’s recipes have at least one can of Campbells soup in them?”
