Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More

Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

@lioness- I can picture this so vividly! Good one Ginger.
I also want to tell everyone that I spilled coffee on my laptop and my husband is in the process of trying to clean the keys. I hate using my phone for Connect so I'll be mostly reading your posts and wait to respond until I have my computer back I'm thinking of you all.

@merpreb Lesson learned as to beverages and computers. Hope hubby can rescue wifey.
The pulled muscle in my shoulder is improving. Over zealous physical therapist. I knew that is what had happened. TMJ also improving. My blender is my BFF right now. Just had a coconut milk, veggie protein powder, baby spinach, fresh blueberries, banana smoothie. Totally delicious!!

@parus @lioness My stomach is growling, reading your breakfast. I have a meeting each Fri morning with TOPS [Take Off Pounds Sensibly], so nothing until after meeting.
I don't know much about vestibular disorders. Sometimes I get dizzy, even laying down. Somewhere I read about chronic bronchitis or sinusitis causing issues like your vertigo, also.

@parus I am a very visual person too, but I did not get visuals on that one. Sometimes I have my own little show going on in my brain. It was hilarious when I worked for a guy who was sort of an idiot.

@parus and @lioness

Well, I just started Vestibular therapy. Here is how it went the first day (which was the evaluation). She explained that I have vertigo as well as something called nystagmus (that is where the eyes move a lot and you get a sore shoulder/neck from trying to keep your head/eyes quiet). (This explanation is mine, not a medical one of course so don't quote me to any medical professional.) .

The first exercise I was given was called "Standing Gaze Stabilization with Head Rotation." You move your head back and forth and then up and down keeping your eyes on your thumb (stationary) in front of you. The next one is called "Standing Gaze Stabilization with Head Nod." For this one, you are standing again with your thumb in front of you and nod your head up and down keeping your eyes focused on your thumb. The third one is "Seated Gaze Stabilization with Head Rotation and Horizontal Arm." The last one is called "Standing Gaze Stabilization with Head Nod and Vertical Arm Movement." I won't even begin to explain the last two, as I'm not really all that good at those yet. The day after I was very nauseous and called the doctor for some Zofran which helped a lot. Feel much better today. So, I'll keep with it. Let me know how you are doing, @lioness.

@contentandwell Yes vertigo He said my test showed nerve damage in my inner ear I never had any infection but I did have mono CT 2600 the Dr said this was high I don't know if that would have caused damage do you?

@lioness I asked my sister and my daughter about the cause of their vertigo. My sister said they told her it was some "debris" in her ear that moved to the area (middle ear?) that affects balance. My daughter had no idea what caused hers. I can't help but wonder if wearing hearing aids could have contributed to hers, although I have not had that problem and of course I wear hearing aids also.

@harriethodgson1 Harriet, which food tracker do you use? I use myfitnesspal and I like it but I am open to other suggestions.

I'm not using a program--just making a list of what I eat during the day.
