Nausea
I started 8 months ago with either food poisoning or a stomach flu. I have never recovered. I have had every test done and continue to suffer from nausea everyday. In the middle of this I was diagnosed with and treated for c-diff twice but because I didn’t have the classic symptoms the drs at Mayo thought they were false positives. I also was diagnosed and treated for SIBO twice. The nausea everyday which is where this all started never went away. Has anyone had this and come up with a solution?

Hello @jillannw, I see that you are new to Mayo Connect. Welcome!
I am sorry to hear of your continual nausea. I have a fair amount of nausea myself as a result of several surgeries of the upper digestive tract so I'm more than a little familiar with this topic.
Just some thoughts to help you think through this, so if you care to share more:
Is this nausea just a feeling or do you actually vomit on a regular basis when you eat?
Have you been able to maintain your weight over these last 8 months?
Some meds will cause nausea for me, especially if I have to take them on an empty stomach. Do you take a lot of meds yourself?
Sometimes food allergies can cause problems like this as well. Have you tracked your nausea symptoms to see if there is any correlation between your diet and nausea?

I’m sure since you’ve had lots of tests they already did the stomach emptying study to see if it could possibly be gastroparesis, correct? I had mild but persistent nausea with that before I was diagnosed and got it under control with the right eating plan.
Thank you for that suggestion,@pdilly.

Right now I stopped all meds. Sometimes I throw up. I have lost 15 lbs and I was thin to begin with. I cannot make a correlation with food. I’ve limited my sugar intake, don’t drink or eat any lactose food. It usually happens around 5:30 before dinner. But also other times.
Yes thank you. I had that test done.
I take Compazine twice a day for long term and undiagnosed nausea since 2004.
I’m newly diagnosed with gastroparesis. I can’t control my nausea, lightheadedness or occasional vomiting.
Hello, I suffered from nausea without vomiting for 4 years after colon surgery. I was also diagnosed with gastroparesis. So, 2 years ago GI doctor prescribed Nortriptyline 25MG. I take it at bedtime and it has given me great relief. I gladly gave up the glass of wine that I usually had with dinner as you can't drink with this medicine. I feel so much better now and hope this helps you.
I don’t throw up and I’m constipated unless I take Miralax daily. I’ve lost at least 30 lbs in less than a year and I’m hungry ALL THE TIME. CONTINUOUSLY, throughout the night 24/7. I eat often because if I don’t I just get sicker because I’m so hungry. I’ve had no surgeries. This sickness just happened one day about a year ago and hasn’t gone away. I go to a G I doctor who has referred me to any and every doctor he can think of and no one has been able to diagnose it. Hopefully, I’ll get to come to Mayo and they can figure it out. Have you been to Mayo for help with your nausea? I take only the meds I have to take. 3 meds total. One of those is for acid reflux. Please tell me you think Mayo can help me. I would love to have my life back. Yes is the answer to your questions. I keep a very detailed journal. Thank you!!
