Holidays are hard but you can still make good choices. Eat lots of vegetables, salads, fruits other than pears, lean meats like chicken, turkey. Avoid gluten, and desserts.
I found a nutritionist who helped detox me. It's not easy denying yourself certain foods but it gets easier over time. You can have a cheat meal but then go right back to your eating plan. Drink lots of water!!! Good luck

1 ReactionJane,
Go elsewhere. Rubio's in san Diego is good, Broken Yolk is also good. Just found out Panera has a gluten free tortilla soup and a baked potato soup. I eat at Denny's and their menu lists all the tcan be eaten on a GF diet and it is a good amount...just don't eat the delicious smelling pancakes, but when making them at home add vanilla to your batter.

1 ReactionHow were the pears prepared? I can’t believe that a whole fresh pear could have any gluten unless it was cut with a knife that had previously sliced a gluten containing item like bread or pastry.

1 ReactionFruit contains no glutens. You are most likely correct about the use of the knife prior to the cutting of the pear or the pear was cut on a board that had recently held food with glutens.

1 ReactionThe bad reaction to a pear could also be related to fructose rather than gluten intolerance. I am on a low FODMAP diet and both apples and pears are off limits for me right now.

1 ReactionLow FODMAP. A diet low in sugars, complex carbs and other highly fermentable foods. There is a great deal of information about it on the internet. It is used for IBS and other digestive issues. Worth doing a little bit of research and reading. It has worked wonders for me under the guidance of a nutritionist.
