Holiday Feelings: Are They Merry or Stressful?

We are in the middle of a holiday season marked by twinkling lights, music, movies and sentiments that are supposed to bring joy and cheer. What if you don’t feel those sentiments right now? Is that OK?

Perhaps you have experienced difficulties, maybe health problems, loss of a job, or loss of a loved one. Maybe it is not possible to work-up the holiday cheer that everyone else experiences.

What do we do with the holidays if we are not feeling cheerful and upbeat?

@lioness We worked on the Donate Life float. It features African drums. Theme of the parade is "Melody of Life", float is titled "Rhythm of the Heart". There are 70 floral pictographs of donors from all over the country. Yep, Tessie Belle our cat has her own fur coat, but she's a lightweight ;))

@gingerw that's right glad for rest of info .I want to get a pet my grandson is allergic to cats might get hamster , don't know had dogs ally life but to much for me to take care of now ,darn it

@karen00 The local station KTLA starts coverage at 6AM Pacific time, with behind-the-scenes stories. I believe they will also be streaming it on their website. Actual parade starts at 8AM Pacific time. There are gusty winds predicted, so some floats with height features [part raises up] may be kept lowered. This morning it is overcast and cold, but they predict sunshine, wind and cold for tomorrow.

@karen00 The local station KTLA starts coverage at 6AM Pacific time, with behind-the-scenes stories. I believe they will also be streaming it on their website. @karen00 There is a tradition I have tried to follow. On New Year's Eve set the table with dinnerware, silverware, glassware. This is asking for enough food for the coming year. On New Year's Day, I always try to do each of my crafts/hobbies/interests, to ensure I will continue that habit during the new year. This year it will be reading, journaling, Zentangle, crochet, and sewing. Fabric is cut, scarf on the hook, Zentangle supplies standing by! There is a TV in workroom, so no missing the parade ;))
