After new Hip - What not to do

Posted by mari @mari, Dec 3, 2018

Lesson learned: We r taught not to bend at the waist more than 90 degrees -- To pick up something - surgery side slide foot back to keep waist straight.

@mari, did you try bending at 90 degrees? If you don't mind me asking, what happened? I have had a knee replacement and one of the things I was told as to not kneel on the knee directly, especially on hard surfaces. I did once on accident, and I learned that lesson the hard way too.

new Left hip, hold onto something solid; slide left foot back behind - pick up something on the floor. Stand up. NO bending more than 90 degrees at the waist. slide left foot back behind = left leg can become almost straight.

Ok, found out from Surgeon, Hip Anterior is what i have. So more freedom in what i'm allowed to do. If putting on sox, sit, spread knees, put on sox. When I pick up something from floor, I still slide leg w nu hip back, thereby keeping a wider angle. Posterior hip replacement - should b more strict w following cautions!

It seems I don't have too much difficulty w slight kneeling. Have not tested it that much, but no pain when I do. Since July 30,18.
