Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@contentandwell- I lied! Shortly after I posted that I remembered good FB friends who are suffering at home. They did not get tested but have all of the symptoms.
@parus Hi it is the same here . I see no one out in the halls . It is somber . I decided to put some new color in my place took out old plants I have and bought the flower rug I guess you call it . Put in big flower pot as it has lots of different flowers in it . I have one done and will do the other soon. I also framed a picture it is a puzzle put together by my friend who has passed on . I just got the frame from Amazon and put it together last night now have to wait till my son comes over to hang it. Be safe
@contententandwell Thankfully my son and daughter in law can work from home. There son is home to and bored as all kids now . She just text me this last night . What are parents doing for kids at home now . ? Anyone have ideas ? I told ginger we now have a person that is self quarantine self she cam in contact with a person who came in contact with a person who has the virus so she is self quarantined .
I am grateful today that I dont have any symptoms of the virus and pray for those who do . This is a sad time in our world. I am grateful for the roof over my head the grocery delivery people and others who deliver in these times. I pray for all the first responders nurses, dr,s , firefighters and police those who go out of there way to help people or send food to those who cant get out . This is a time to be isolated and keep yourself busy in your own home. So be safe everyone here on connect . We will get through this as mamacita says we are better together
Hi lioness,
Depending on where you live in California, wondering if you saw the news the other night where a amazon delivery person delivered a package to a home, then spit on the package, then took a photo of the package that was required of him to show proof of the delivery. Everything was caught on the homeowners ring doorbell camera. Hope they fired the delivery person.
Too many people are not taking this virus seriously.
I also am grateful for a roof over my head, even thou my place is still in repair from the Wolsey Canyon Fire that started in nov.2018.
As more people are falling ill, it is a very sad time in the world.
@funcountess Im I so. calif and remember the Wosley fire hope you are all right . Stay safe Im doing fine down here in Long Beach. I use gloves to pick up my packages and mail. then use a Lysol wipe before I open them as well as groceries I get delivered . We have to be careful yes he should be fired hope the film of him was sent to Amazon.
Hi lioness, you are in a pretty part of l.a. county.
I think the medical navel ship the MERCY is docked in l.b.
As far as Wolsey canyon fire, I did get hit hard with it, but I realize the stuff lost is just stuff, and can be replaced, but with this cov19 virus it is much more dangerous with way too many deaths, especially among the elderly.
Lately I call my home MODERN DISASTER, All repairs are on hold, as I do not want a lot of construction workers in the house, you just do not know if any of them are sick.
Stay safe, and be well.
@funcountess Yes it is docked in port at San Pedro wish I could go see it but better on T V I did see years ago the USD Iowa which is there too and close by Mercy staying in ,cooking just made Lentil ham soup baked poppyseed rolls Be save how much of your home is under construction?
@gingerw I worry a lot about all of the people out of work due to this pandemic. Our family is very fortunate to all be working but I know it is hitting my son and son-in-law's businesses. My son-in-law owns his business and my son is a partner in his. Still, they are at least working.
@merpreb That's one of the things I miss most in the summer when the windows are open, the sounds from outside. When we used to spend a lot of time at the lake I loved waking to the sound of the water lapping the shore but that ended when I lost a lot of my hearing.
@lioness I think my husband and I are taking enough precautions that we will not be hit in this first wave of the virus. At one point I heard it predicted that there will be three waves, so we will see what the future brings.
@funcountess I saw the article about the delivery person who spit on his hands and then wiped it on the package. The person had a ring camera and caught it on that. When they went to get the package they noticed it was wet and thought that perhaps a dog had urinated on it. The article said that the person had been fired and may be getting charged with a crime. Hopefully he will be.

The amazon contract driver was fired, and now the driver has been charged for his actions. I think this happened in Southern California. It was on my local news.
In this day and age, it is difficult to be trusting of others.
Especially for seniors, and I am a senior.
Take care
