Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@parrotqueen I started the Boron today will see how it works on me .Thanks for suggestion. How are you doing?
@parus we had very busy holidays this year, very little time for anything, which is part of the reason that I’m still enjoying the Christmas decorations, now that I can in peace and quiet! Even so, I really miss my son and daughter and their spouses. They even completely took over our Christmas dinner preparation - halibut, Brussels sprouts, mushroom risotto, salad. My son did the planning. We usually have had beef or rack of lamb but he’s getting more and more health conscious so this year we did fish.

I've lost 77 pounds, never thought I'd make it. Only 5 pounds to my goal of 145. I'll lose a bit more for my goal celebration.
@jakedduck1 Congratulations, Lenoard, that's fabulous! Don't deny yourself everything, a little chocolate won't hurt-- operative word being little.
I developed some bad eating habits when I was so stuck at home with my fracture and I have been having trouble getting back to better eating, but I am working hard on it. I definitely want to lose 10 pounds, about 15 would be wonderful.

Hi JK,
”little” oh I never thought you'd use such language when referring to candy. I try my best not to use that word unless I'm referring to some icky thing like vegetables or some other awful tasting conglomeration (like what @imallears eats) but never candy, NEVER EVER!!! Actually I thought I was using great restraint since I didn’t order the 10lb bar or the 4lb giant gummy worm or the giant Reese’s. I got very excited when I found a 32” Snickers but elation quickly turned to disappointment, it was a plastic prop. I’d appreciate if in the future you’d refrain from using such offensive language, lol.
Take care,
Jake
@jakedduck1 I know, "little" is harsh. Sorry. I love dark chocolate and I do allow myself a little almost every day. For some reason I am usually able to control that, but salty snacks can be my undoing - not chips though. I have vowed to not buy any of the ones I like. I will still have to buy them for my husband, but most of those don't tempt me.
JK
Jake and Jk- I've made a new year's resolution. I'm leaving my lips to the chocolate empire. I will never ever be without dark chocolate!

@merpreb
Yuck gross & ick. I don’t know how you guys can choke down that nasty tasting dark chocolate. My guess is you don’t really prefer it to milk chocolate you’re only eating it because of the speculatory propaganda that it’s more healthy.
Jake

@jakedduck1 I found Resses thin candy cup enough dark chocolate and peanut butter to satisfy try them so good only 3 though
