Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@lioness- I agree, that poor guy really has had a tough life. I feel extremely bad for him. I think that everyone on here is extremely compassionate toward others.
@gingerw - I was moved by your story of how you and your husband participated in the Donate Life Run/Walk. Glad you made it with your bad knee. (Being in recovery from a knee replacement, I sympathize!) And I was so touched by how your husband was able to share his story with a donor family. I can just tell you are both beautiful people!
Grateful I can still keep trying to find some answers for help with chronic pain that is worsening. Having more x-rays and a CT scan of the cervical was more information for the pain specialist that I have worked with for over 4 years. My being proactive and being referred back to this pain specialist was a good choice for the ortho doctor as I have a history with the specialist who does the injections. Being allergic to steroids presents some problems. Now talking about burning nerves. It is a start-again.
I am behind with things here at community as needed to slow my pace. Miss y'all.
@parus I, for one, am grateful that you posted this morning. I have been worried about you. Chronic pain is just simply no fun. This past weekend I attended my monthly kidney disease support group. Our leader and founder headed a discussion on chronic pain. She recently went through a long session of medical issues and her chronic pain level was through the roof. In the hospital stay a very kind nurse gave her the magic combination of words to tell the doctors that she needed "pain management", something she had never thought to tell them. You are lucky to have your pain specialist that you work well with and I hope you are able to get some relief. We're here for you at the Cyber table and won't give up your spot to anyone!

@parus- Good morning. Your news is so great to wake up to! It's positive and I love that you were proactive! It works every time, even if you don't get the answers that you want. It's empowering, don't you think?
My next door neighbor just had some nerve blockage done for a knee. He'll need to go back for some other treatments (it might not be the exact treatment that you are referring to) and he has had a huge pain level difference.
Are you going to go for it? Have you researched the procedure? What is the name of it?
Yay you!
Good morning all- I hope that everyone has notice that @ginger is a new mentor! I am very happy to be working with her along with all the other mentors who have contributed so much to Connect. Congratulations Ginger!
@merpreb Ah, shucks, kicking my toe in the sand. I am so honored to join the wonderful group of mentors here!
Ginger
@parus Happy to hear you are making progress and positive steps forward. I am sure the pain specialist will be able to help you despite the complications of being allergic to steroids. Please keep us up on how you are doing.

@parus I missed your comments in our community Glad to hear from you today You are right sometimes we just have to take a break and devote our time to ourselves .take care 😃
Hi all, I join @merpreb Merry and many others in being grateful today that we have a new mentor. Now, she may be a new mentor, but she is definitely not new to us in this group. Great to be working along with you @gingerw. Congratulations! You are a joy to have in this community.
And @parus - I too understand the need to step back and have a break every now and then. I hope your pain lessens and your treatment options expand. We miss you but understand and applaud the need to rest and recuperate! Wishing you the best.
