Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@debbraw Thank you. Acupuncture is not covered by insurance. There is only one locally. I worked with her in 2010 and was not impressed. There are those that have been helped and this I can appreciate.
@debbraw Glad for you we can always look at someone else and see how blessed we are
@lioness, Yes! I have had eggs in regular beet juice, but never pickled. It sounds good! I love beets, but I am always so nervous about spilling beet juice. It stains so badly! Thanks for the reply-I’ll have to try ! ......Karen

@parus joke 2allegators where shopping The one said to the other oh I like your purse ,she said thanks that's My Husband
@parus Acupuncture did not work for me at all, but dry needling did. That might be something for you to look into. In my area it is offered at one of the Physical Therapy Clinics. It is similar to acupuncture in that needles are inserted into your skin. It is different in that the needles are inserted more deeply and an electric charge is used for stimulation. It is not appropriate for everything, but it might be worth asking about.
@2019 Thank you for explaining dry needling I will ask P T about it when I go for my bacj
Today I'm grateful for a friend who has offered to pick up my pain medicine and bring it to me after surgery. I live about an hour from Mayo - Jacksonville. They are so strict now on pain medication because of the opioid crisis. They cannot call the prescription in to a local CVS. Someone has to appear in person and pick up a paper prescription. I was going crazy trying to figure out how to manage this when my friend who lives in Jacksonville offered to get it and bring it down to St. Augustine. I'm seeing a pattern here. I'm increasingly grateful for one friend or another or many. Friends are the best!
@lioness - I don't understand what tapping is. Can you tell more?
Where I am located paper prescriptions are no longer used. All scripts are now faxed. We are all made to feel like criminals it seems.
@Parus It's that way where I live too. They fax everything---no prescription pads and doctors writing them out. If I need a prescription, I better get to the Dr. and get it faxed in time or I'll be without.
