Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@contentandwell Do you have a car remote that turns on heater before you get to car? My friend had one and loved it
@contentandwell That's why I started to can my food and my son,s allergies
@lioness No. That, of course, starts the car and the car is in the garage so that would not be good. The carbon dioxide would get into the house.

@contentandwell In the 40’s here tomorrow with rain. I will take this over those single digits plus or minus. No help at pain specialist other than the one 5 milligram of hydrocodone. I do have headaches but not all of the time so insurance will not pay for Botox. I am allergic to steroids. Had a meltdown when I got home but have regrouped. I was not going to lie about the headaches.
@parus, I apologize if you mentioned this before. Are your headaches migraines? I believe those are the only type of headaches that are helped by Botox.
I am sorry that the pain specialist was no help and that you have no relief except for using hydrocodone. I believe that is a drug that cannot be used long-term, but of course your doctor would know more about that than I do.

Hello @parus
I am also sorry that you did not get more pain relief. How disappointing! I'm glad to hear that you have regrouped. I hope that the future holds more pain relief options for folks like you. This is discouraging to say the least.
@parus Have you ever looked into Accupuncture? for your headaches just wondering I've finally got the courage up to ask about Accupuncture for my back
@contentandwell No that wouldn't be good she had her car under a carport but when she came up to bingo she used it . I tried oh well
@parus... I'm sorry too that things did not work out well with your pain specialist. I agree with @lioness that acupuncture might be an option. It has certainly helped me with a variety of pain issues. Wishing you well.
I'm grateful today for being able to walk ... my knee surgery is coming up and I know there will be weeks and weeks where I'll be slow and walking will be difficult. On my last knee replacement, I remember walking with a cane down to the waterfront and seeing people enjoying their stroll on the sea wall. I remember thinking "They don't know how lucky they are!". Today, I KNOW how lucky I am.
