Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@lucylee Welcome to Connect and to this great Gratitude journey we are on! What a dear friend you are to fly with your friend to Mayo and be with her during her visit. Sounds like quite a journey you are on - in a physical sense! I couldn't help wondering - can you tell us if your flight is a long one and what kind of weather you'll be flying into? I'm near Mayo Jacksonville, but you may be up north. I'm wishing you safe travels and lots more to be grateful for after your visit!
@coffeebean - Welcome to Connect! And welcome to our Gratitude Group. You will find some amazing people here with open arms and loving hearts that are just overflowing with support for each other. Please do join us. We are just trying to post each day what we are grateful for and to encourage each other in this gratitude journey. Your ordeal sounds daunting. What you have been through is almost unimaginable - and yet you still find gratitude for your daughter, your other children & friends, for not having lasting disabilities, and for just surviving. You are an inspiration. Sending you peace and good wishes that all goes well with your upcoming ostomy reversal. Has your broken leg healed so you are driving now?
@trueblue18 - I totally understand. I think you will need to go into your profile and unfollow the "Just Want to Talk" group. If there is another way, someone more computer savvy will need to tell us. Please don't hesitate to check back in anytime you need a gratitude burst. Wishing you all the best.
Today I am grateful for young people - the little ones in my own family, but also those in our community. I am an advisor to Key Club in one of the local high schools. At their meeting this morning, they were sending around sign up sheets for several local holiday service projects. The spirit of community service and caring for others was so strong and immediate that I thought "Our future is in good hands with young leaders like this!" Being involved with these kids gives me hope and brightens my days.
