COPD: Should CT scans be done along with x-rays?
Many take CTscan. Is this something that should be done along with xrays. Neither my GP or Pulmonalist have ordered one. It was last done 14 years ago.

the va called today and sending more shantex, also getting appointment for low dose ct scan , about seeing pulmonologist, I have to use my SYMBICORT twice a day for a month ,to see if any better, as I have not been using regular. then call back to see options.
Wayne- I am so glad that you are attempting to quit smoking. How are you doing with it? Smoking is the leading cause of COPD because it irritates the lung tissues, which swells and doesn't allow full inhales and exhales of air.
I'm glad that you followed through with the calls. Symbicort is a great drug and should help. I don't need to tell you that you have to take your medicines regularly if you want them to work. COPD is serious and could shorten your life if you don't quit smoking. Taking this seriously will help you feel better. How are you feeling now?
feeling a little better now that I am using my SYMBICORT 2 times a day. time will tell now. thank you
excellent wayne
get one asap that's what to do. I stopped smoking 3 months ago and should get mine next week.
going to have a ct scan next week. is there a lot of radiation w/ this test?
Is this for lungs. Only know it only takes 2 to 3 minutes. Unless they use contrast die which can affect the kidneys so drink lots of water afterwards. To flush it out. Since 2011. I get CT’s every 6 or 3 months depending on what’s going on with my lungs. And they give low dosage. Don’t know if this helps you or not. But best of luck to you@joangma
