Art for Healing
Kudos to the Montreal Museum of Fine Art for allowing physicians to write prescriptions for free admission to the museum. And kudos to Mayo Clinic for its art program. From the beginning, Mayo Clinic believed that art can uplift patients and foster healing. Whether it's Rochester, Jacksonville or Scottsdale, Mayo Clinic displays a wide range of artwork for patients. The Rochester site published a brochure for a self-guided tour of artwork. I live in Rochester and every time I'm at Mayo, I take the time to look at the artwork.

@jenniferhunter I saw this as I enjoy this magazine. Congrats.
Please know that no animal was harmed for this painting. Also nothing violent-rather some of how I was feeling. "Adrift On The Covid Sea".
We all have ways of expressing different feelings/emotions. There are many different types of art. This particular one is a watercolor (9"x20")of the struggles and disparities that are continually taking place the world over. I found this helped me to deal with things a bit better.
@parus wow! So beautiful! Becky
@parus What a gift you have! Thank you so much for sharing this gift with us.

So much feeling is in this painting, @parus. I can recognize the feeling of "treading water" and the feeling of "keeping my head above water." It takes a lot of energy to do both, in the same way, that it takes a lot of energy to make it through the COVID restrictions. Thank you for sharing it with us!
@parus What a beautiful painting. You are so talented.

Parus, this is so beautiful! What a struggle for this magnificent animal. Beautiful! You are blessed with such talent. Thank you for sharing with us. Art is a healer. Every time I go to Mayo Florida I stroll the corridors and take extra time to take in, digest the beautiful artwork in all the corridors, offfices, cafeteria. The ceiling and walls are filled with beauty, with art that speaks to the soul.
The buildings themselves are works of art. When I began to feel better after several months visiting the campus, walking into the buildings, I began to look up for the first time. Beauty was staring down at me. Art in stone, design. And my spirit soared...for the first time in years I was filled with the joy and love of beauty. What a healing experience. And still, I am healed every time I step on the campus. Before seeing any medical personnel. Thank you for this. Blessings to you. Elizabeth
About 30 years ago, I took 2 UC extension classes in art therapy. I found it an area full of potential, but, alas, at the time, it was underutilized. Meds were (and are) the preferred method. I also have MA in art ed. and lot's of years teaching.
Art therapy was a saving grace for my Mom after a couple of strokes left her in assisted living and unable to drive. The teacher discovered a talent we never knew, and got her private sessions with the Artist in Residence - we cherish the few paintings she completed before her final illness. If I can find it, I will send a shot of her Memorial card from her funeral - my husband put a picture of her favorite painting on it.
