@jenniferhunter thank you for sharing. This was my first time seeing that campus. My transplant was done at the Mayo campus in Jacksonville, FL.

If it were not for art and music this isolation thing would be unbearable-for me. Still missing being with family so I feel closer when I do paintings of my little scamp (grandson). Keeps my mind from the dark places.

@parus, Thank you for sharing. This is the first post I am reading this morning, and you have warmed my heart with this watercolor of your grandson. This pose - sitting in the back seat with his buckled seatbelt, reminds me of my own dear grandchild and I can't help but wonder what he is thinking or what he is seeing out that window?
You have created a beautiful image that is wrapped in love.
Might I ask what size this painting is?

@parus Many times my mind floats to an art project, what I would do, colors, subject, etc. Like you, it helps keep my mind from dark places. This is a wonderful piece you did. Thank you for sharing it.

Thanks, Jennifer. I have been going to Mayo Rochester for 11 years, even spent 3 months there in 2009. I enjoyed this 'above' view of Mayo, and I was able to identify some of the sights that I knew from street level.

@rosemarya Hi Rosemary. Your was the first I read this morning. Now i have a warm heart too. The size is 4" x 6". My son had snapped this photo and it is one of his favorites so I turned it into a painting. He and his family gave me a subscription to Sketchbox for Christmas last year. It has helped to keep my creative juices running and to try new materials. What an amazing gift that keeps on giving!! Thank you for returning the warmth.

Cliff Leonard is a Vietnam War veteran, a heart transplant patient and most importantly, a passionate sculptor. Before discovering his true talent as a sculptor, Cliff was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy at age 48 and required a heart transplant. He has created some 50 busts in the likeness of Marines who died in Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan. His “little brothers,” he calls them. He provides them to family at no cost.
