Turmeric Tea?

Posted by bushy @bushy, Oct 25, 2018

My knees are killing me!!! but I'm not ready for surgery, and can't afford Stem Cell Therapy. Anyone had luck with Tumeric (tea, supplements, etc.) for pain/inflammation relief?

@bushy
My Mom’s doctor told her to start taking Tumeric for her knee and the pain is now totally gone. I imagine it depends on the severity of the damage as to how well it works. She was wondering one day if the just went away so she stopped taking it. The pain came back so she restarted Tumeric and it again resolved the pain. My Mom takes two1,000mg capsules daily.
Hope it works for you and your knees become less painful.

Hello again,
I just got some at Costco and it comes in a rather large capsule but also in a powder form. My friend has difficulty swallowing them but my Mom doesn’t.

Like lioness my first experiences with Turmeric were unpleasant; even with my strong stomach I would get stomach pain shortly after taking, even with a full stomach. This is a common side effect. I ended up composting my pills. I say whatever brand you try start, with a small bottle. I started with a giant bottle from a box store. Mistake. Yet with further research I now have 2 sources of Tumeric that cause no negative side effects. First accept the fact that the right Turmeric is going to be expensive compared to prices other herbals. With research learned that to absorb properly in capsule form you need Turmeric Curcumin. A bit complex but do your Googling for specifics. I now use Vimerson Health Turmeric Curcumin, it can be ordered from Vimerson or Amazon and I order a 2 pack of 60 capsules. You need your capsules to say Curcumin on the label. It causes no stomach distress,dose is 2 tablets daily. I only take one, but I am 130 lbs, perhaps a larger person should take full dose. I also adore an herbal tea, also expensive, but worth it. Numi Organic Tea- Turmeric Tea Three Roots (the additions being ginger, licorice and rose). I am allergic to cinnamon, so most spice teas are out, and this full bodied, spicy tea is a treat. I have purchased in various retail stores, but also order via Amazon. Wonderful on a cold winter afternoon!

All that said, my hope of some miracle happening to calm my inflation using tumeric was exactly that, hope. I can't say it made and makes no difference as far as the knees are concerned. Knee injections, help a little bit (not the steroid shots they did nothing). My eczema is dormant now, but I have used the Turmeric Curcumin now and been drinking the tea for over a year and I have had episodes where my eczema was symptomatic, plenty of inflammation left in my body. . Still, why not keep taking it, capsules don't hurt me now and I enjoy the tea. Always hopeful!!

Your tea sounds wonderful and Trader's has great prices. I will check out next time I am in an area with a Trader Joe's. I just bought some fresh ginger and think I will try adding a piece to steep in my tea next time. I will keep up drinking the tea I recommended as well as the capsules - always hopeful like the rest of us! I also think perhaps it is helping and I don't realize how bad off i would be if I wasn't taking these supplements.

Took my first 1000mg capsule this morning. Do I have to wait a couple weeks for a certain blood level, or does it make a difference right away?
