Tinnitus and brain tumor

Meningioma, cavernoma, leukocytoclastic Vasculitis, osteoarthritis, abnormal EKG (enlarged left anterior descending artery-Calcium scoring test soon). Now high-pitched tinnutus. All diagnosed in past 15 months. I think the Grim Reaper is laughing.

@de9g

After many, many years of pressure in right ear, headache on right side, constant tinnitus and episodes of dizziness when turning my head quickly. Then graduating to coughing, losing voice, neck pain and pulling sensation to the right side of my face, a neurosurgeon finally measured the length of my styloid process and determined I have Eagle Syndrome. I could not have imagined all of these years the ringing, whooshing and piercing tone in my ear actually had a name. I feel for everyone commenting above because I was referred to mental health specialists several times, have had several tubes in my right ear and have had three firm misdiagnoses and at least two doctors insinuate I was making things up. Well, on to the next step and hopefully pain free days ahead.

I got a bad cold 2 and a half months back because of which there is continuous hissing in my right ear since then. I went to ENT doctor who got my CRT done, which was fine but although hissing intensity has dropped,it's continuos and still there.
What to expect?will it go away as it was due to cold?

I can imagine having continuous hissing in your ear is stressful and challenging. I'm guessing others here, like @cherriann @vdog @cathy514 @de9g, will have some thoughts on what to expect from this hissing that's developed since your bad cold and offer their insights on whether it may go away if due to the cold.

Here is some Mayo Clinic information on tinnitus, including information on causes of this problem, you may find helpful https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/tinnitus/symptoms-causes/syc-20350156

As a CRT has multiple meanings in medicine, @idrees, just wanted to confirm the testing you had done? What did the ear, nose & throat specialist (ENT) say about what you might expect with the hissing noise in your ear?

@idrees, I'd also love for you to meet @lioness @alpaca and @hopeful33250, who may have some thoughts for you on the hissing you are experiencing in your ear.

@idrees Thank you Lisa I will give what has helped me. I,ve had tinnitus for along time mostly hissing but sometimes it is ringing . Through experimenting with food I found out that for me the dairy products makes it worse. Another thing is a O.T.C. med Lipoflavonoid this helps but must be taken everyday. Most EN@T Drs. don't have any answers but I keep a food journal now since the dairy experience . I,m sorry I couldn't be of any further service to this problem . Keeping myself busy helps I don't notice it that much like adult coloring , zentangle ,Ginger knows about this better then me. just what ever you can to not think about it. .Good luck if you come across anything to help let us know.

Thanks, @lisalucier for inviting me to this discussion and hello @idrees,

I am sorry to hear that the ear noises continue, however, I had a similar experience over 10 years ago and the ringing sound in my ears continues. My ear noise also started after having a cold and a feeling of fullness in the ear. Some days there is a little silence, but most of the time it rings at a pretty high pitch. I really have gotten used to it which is a good plan because I have not heard of any cures.

You mentioned having a CRT done, Is that a hearing test? You don't mention having dizziness or nausea, so that is a good thing.

For me, there are certain OTC products that will increase ear ringing including any Ibuprofen product or aspirin. I need to take one Ibuprofen product once a day and if I take 2 a day the noise will really increase in intensity. Do you take a lot of OTC (or prescription) anti-inflammatory products?

The link that Lisa provided, https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/tinnitus/symptoms-causes/syc-20350156, has some great information. I just read it again. Have you read it yet? Is there anything there that might help you?

What is that?

Is it still okay to use earbuds if you have tinnitus. I feel scared if I put them in my ear. I’m scared if I’ll make it worse.
