Hi @kneeproblem, sorry to hear about your knee and all the issues you have been dealing with.

The bone scan looks at bone and an MRI looks at tissue.

I had a partial knee replacement in April and a knee manipulation in June still have no relief finally the doctor did a bone scan after months of me telling him something is not right well my scan came back and I was wondering if anyone knows what this means periarticular degenerative activity along the axial and appendicular skeleton, intense focal activity left antecubital for a. Then is also mild focal activity along tibial component at midline of joint line possible due to loosening . Please has anyone been thru this or know what it means I can not get into his office for over a week and am nervous

Hello @kneeproblem. I moved your new discussion and combined it with your previous one from September 8th with the same title. I would like to invite @leh09, @progolfer, and @kibe75 to this discussion as they have all discussed having partial knee replacements in the past as well. I had to undergo two manipulations myself following my total knee replacement in 2006, they were not fun at all. I can understand being nervous for your appointment. Do you think it is possible that you may need a total knee replacement? I am not a medical professional and cannot offer a diagnosis, but it sounds like there is other structural damage around your knee joint. You mentioned you are going in to see your physician soon, do you mind sharing what concerns you the most?

I had a partial knee replacement Nov 29, 2017. At my 6 wk follow up I was threatened with a manipulation if I didn't get better range of motion in a month. My PT was then ramped up to 3x/wk, and included excruciating bending and straightening of my knee. I did finally (not until almost 6 months post op) get better range of motion. Unfortunately, I'm still having quite a bit of pain. I'm still in PT, and no one can figure out why I'm in so much pain. To add to my problems, I had been on diclofenac (NSAID like ibuprofen) to help with the pain, which it did, it made it bearable, but caused me to have a stomach ulcer and other GI issues so I can no longer take it. My family doctor prescribed tramadol for me to help, and is referring me to a pain specialist. I tried to get in with a different ortho group (UW Madison), but they won't schedule me until it has been a full year. I wish my insurance would cover Mayo, but I would have to pay out of pocket, which I can't do.

I am nervous about having to go thru all this pain and down time again and starting to heal again I haven't been able to enjoy my summer at all and afraid to go into the winter like this and what if it fails again. Plus I am mor sure if I trust my surgeon this time

I've been told I'll need a knee replacement surgery. After reading all the problems here, I'm really nervous and scared on how I'll do.
