Mayo Clinic visit one week away. Feeling optimistic, but scared.
On this day next week. My mom, and I will be flying out to Rochester to go to Mayo to see my hip surgeon, and back specialist. I’m feeling scared as the pain in my left hip from my hip replacement six years ago is becoming unbearable to deal with. My right hip replacement is doing so well after seventeen years. I’ve been wondering if this is the warning about the possibility of an infection my surgeon was talking about when he was very hesitant to do the second hip replacement surgery on me. But, according to my before-the-left-hip replacement surgery. He saw that he had no choice, but to proceed with doing it.
When he had got in, and saw how badly my left hip was damaged. He saw that I was right.

@50surgeries - Samantha, I can understand your fear and anxiety about your upcoming appointment. with your surgeon. I think that we all have a tendency to think of the worse possible diagnosis when dealing with any complications and pain, especially the unbearable pain as you have mentioned.
I always get jittery for even before a routine doctor visit. My friends say that I am crazy because I had a successful organ transplant surgery 9 years ago. Even when I'm feeling great, there is always a "What if?" in back of my mind.
You are the age of my younger son, and I want to tell you what I would tell him if he were facing a similar situation. Remember that you will be in good hands at Mayo Clinic. And it sounds like you already have a healthy relationship with the medical experts there due to your history. Try to think about good outcomes and feeling better. It is okay to be frightened and apprehensive, and it is okay to fear the possible outcomes, but I pray that you do get a favorable answer.
Samantha, How long have you been experiencing this pain? How do you feel in general?
I’ve been experiencing it since June. My surgeon is hard to get an appointment with. But, I am thankful I don’t have to wait much longer now to see him.
I’ve been feeling tired a lot of the time. Sometimes the pain keeps me up at night.
@50surgeries, I hope you have a successful visit this week. I will be thinking of you.
Hugs and prayers,
Rosemary
