Too much paperwork. Its overwhelming.
I have so much paperwork to do for my son with developmental disability. He's 27 years old and I am legal guardian. I didn't turn in MA renewal on time. Got email that its late. So I filled out and dropped off same day. Then financial worker called and said I need bank statements too. I had my husband help me print them. I just got copies of legal guardianship papers from courthouse. I brought then to mayo social work for my son so they know that I am guardian and so I can access patient portal for son. I also have to do SSI payee report for social security. I need to write guardian report to probate court every year. If I don't I get reminder letters. Then I have to go to annual meetings of son's residential and adult day program providers. I pay my son's room and board and add money to spending account. Then I send my son to summer camp and fill out forms and meet with nurse for camp. There's meds. Its just so much paperwork to deal with. There's even Mayo Clinic paperwork like family history forms for doctors. Its just so overwhelming. And that doesn't even include direct care. That's paperwork. Overwhelming. I don't know how people do all the paperwork. It never ends.

Similar problems with VA. It's deplorable that the Veterans get the worst service in return for their sacrifices to our country.
I had another meeting with our County VA director. He called Minneapolis again and supposedly the waver we had asked for was approved, but they hadn't let me know and withheld my husband's November payment. Problem supposed to be solved. We'll see. They are supposed to send me a letter, but it will be a form letter that tells nothing pertaining to his case. UHG!
I just read your post and what a timely subject for me to find! I am my husbands full time care giver and feel very overwhelmed and then the paperwork! Between VA, VA/Agent Orange appeals, regular bills, and correspondence I freeze. I decided treat each item like a project when I was working. I still end up with more paperwork than I want, but I’m not loosing or missing impirtant deadlines that cost money!
I am with you on this topic.
Amen. And again, I say, AMEN, Sister! I have it easy helping my blind, arthritic walker-mobilizing, finicky heart-challenged, headed for the century-mark Mother who lives alone and cooks and does her own laundry. BUT, when another puzzling form arrives and I have to search for one more qualifying financial document, I do get frustrated. And getting the call from LifeLine that she’s headed to ER when I’m half way across the country on vacation makes my own heart go finicky. And just when I deliver the pads and Miralax she needs and congratulate myself that I’m done with the Walmart run, she says “Oh, the next time you’re at Walmart could you pick up some 150 watt light bulbs, I’m out.” So then the search is on for the elusive 150 watters. Oh, the guilt. How many people my age, let’s just leave it at “retired”, still are privileged to have a parent? I try to stay in the moment and it worry about tomorrow

Hi new to this posting thing. Reading your post about all the mess up with the VA. I am my fathers full time care giver. He is 90 and has Dementia along with being diabetic and kidney disease, also with Glycoma. And heart disease to boot. He also has a diabetic ulcer on his foot that is taking a long time to heal. My dad does qualify for the VA pension.. just have to fill out all the paperwork and pay Atty about 700.00 to make sure it’s done right. But your situation is exactly what I’m afraid of. Even if months down the road I would get the money back. His insurance and his Medicaid are good right now but if it gets messed up. That would put me in a financial hardship. And how slow the VA is, is it really worth the hassle.trying to keep track of all his medications and not run out is another issue. I’m typing this in the hospital right now had to call 911 because his heart was hurting and the nitro was not working. Take care.
