Stuffed nose from CPAP

Posted by racerjon @racerjon, Jul 31, 2018

I realized I have to use my CPAP machine due to my heart. I couldn't get use to a full face mask for nothing and a nasal pillow cause the inside of my nose to get chapped. I'm finally getting use to a nasal mask but so many times I wake up and my nose is so stuffed up I'm barely getting the air I need. I've tried adjusting the numbers on my Respironics CPAP machine but I still end up stuffed. Did anyone else ever have this problem and if so, what did you do to remedy the situation? I would appreciate and help at all. I thought of trying a little bit of Vicks VapoRub but I don't know if that would be a good idea.

I've recently read (in the People's Pharmacy) that getting Vapo Rub inside your nose can be lethal and I would suggest you not try that. There is a product called AYR that's over the counter and specifically made for use with a C-Pap machine. Are you sure you're putting enough water into your tank to get through the whole night?

I have a full face CPAP mask and my nose gets very dry from using the mask. I have used a small amount of Vicks for several years. There is no scientific evidence that Vicks is harmful when using small amounts. It is sometimes used by people in healthcare to cope with bad smells.

Thank you for the responses. Yes, make sure I have plenty enough water every night. My son works for a company that cleans old houses and they sometimes use Vicks because of the smell but that is only occasionally. I'll look into that AYR. Thank you all again.
