H. Pylori
Good afternoon to all, My husband was recently treated for HCC with chemotherapy and radiation. He was recently treated for H Pylori bacteria. in a month he will need to take a breath test to see if the bacteria is gone. I know that this type of bacteria can cause stomach cancer. Has anyone diagnosed with this bacteria led to stomach cancer? Any information on this topic will be appreciated. I fear that he has stomach cancer due to some of the symptoms listed. Hopefully I am over thinking this.

Hi @hogan_g1937,
While you posted your message in the Transplants group, I've also added it to the Infectious Diseases group. Additionally, I'm tagging @travelgirl on this post so that she can share her experiences with H. pylori.
@hogan_g1937 I had H-Pylori 2 1/2 years ago. I DO NOT have stomach cancer. But I can tell you it certainly feels like it. It takes a long time to get yourself back to normal. I took some heavy duty antibiotics for 3 weeks to get rid of the H-Pylori.
It is my understanding untreated H-pylori that goes on for years will cause a Malt Lymphoma Stomach cancer.
I now have severe acid reflux also known as Gerd as a result of the H-Pylori. Gerd symptoms can also cause stomach pain too. Mine does sometimes especially when I think I don't need to take my medicine. Which often I forget to take it. Then it's like BAM the massive Gerd/ Acid reflux acts like it is on steroids. Has he been given medicine for acid reflux. that helped ease some the H-pylori symptoms? I am still on a heavy dose of omeprazole today 40mg in the AM and 40mb in the PM. It took several months so you know, to feel better.
Question have you been traveling outside the USA?

@travelgirl Good morning, no he has not been treated for Acid reflux. He has been treated for H-Pylori with antibiotics and Pepto-Bismol. He has lots of stomach pain but no acid reflux. He is experiencing lost of appetite and when he does eat he gets full with just the smallest amount of food. Praying he does not have stomach cancer. He goes to see if the H-Pylori is gone in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the response,
@hogan_g1937 I didn't want ro eat much either when it was hurting. I lived on aloe water, coconut water and chicken soup. I couldnt drink coffee. They ended up diagnosing me with gerd when I got the h-pylori. I did not have it prior. If I did it was what they would call silent gerd. And the stomach pain went on for months. What kind od antibiotics did they give him? Now so you know when they did my retest after the antibiotics were done. It was done with a stool sample. I will tell you H-pylori makes you feel like your dying. It is beyond miserable.. It took like five or six months to feel better..
@hogan_g1937 I was hospitalized for vomiting blood 13 yrs. ago. Diagnosis - ulcer caused from h pylori. After getting my stomach pumped & 5 days in the hosital I was sent home with a description for the helidac (if I'm spelling it right) pac. It was an awful tasting syrup like substance that made me sick every time I took it but the doctor said I had to finish the bottle to get cured. I have tested negative multiple times since then. Yes I was told it has been linked to stomach cancer but so far so good in that respect. For now the goal is for him to become h pylori negative. It has only been linked to some cases of stomach cancer but not a guarantee that it will cause stomach cancer.
@jt5369 The test I had for it was to drink something and after a period of time they test your breath for a gas that the H Pylori produces. Your stomach fills with gas and you'll burp. Here are some studies about it and one about cranberry juice inhibiting it... I would presume unsweetened 100% cranberry juice would be best (very tart).

It all started last Monday when I felt nauseous when I got home from work. That sent me in full blown panic attack. From there on Tuesday went to doc and he was more concerned about treating the anxiety versus the stomach pain. Well fast forward to Thursday night I couldn’t take it no longer. Went to the er, was dehydrated, they did ct scan and ultrasound and even kept me for 2 nights to find nothing. Now here it is Monday and I am feeling the pain in my stomach. Bad acid reflux. Has anyone ever had Helicobacter pylori? I have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning and going to have him check me for this. Guess next step is a scope? Could I have a bad virus? Answers.
I had been suffering from stomach pain for long time and whenever I went for checkup they found that I had persistent H.pylori but in last the situation become worse so a doctor recommended an abdomen MRI and result showed that I had abdominal inflammatory disease I started the medication and I see some improvement but I want to know whether this condition can be treated and get cured completely and how?
h pylori infection
Has anyone found a natural treatment and cure for the h pylori infection? My hesitation in taking antibiotics is that they kill off good bacteria in the gut, regardless of taking probiotics.
Hey, my dad had a major ulcer problem. He did take antibiotics (amoxicillin and bismuth something. Its been a while so I apologize I forgot the name). In terms of diet, I made him drink a lot of fluids and he had some fermented rice and yogurt Anything with a lot of probiotics is very good. In fact, a lot of stores sell probiotic dummies which you can try using. Broccoli is very good source too for h pylori coupled with white meat. I also faintly remember learning that lactoferrin in milk helps with h pylori infection so you could try that. The trick is clean foods coupled with a lot of fluids and medication. There isn't one magic silver bullet. Hope this helps!
