Stage 3 Kidney Disease and Diet: What can I eat?
It seems there is very little you can eat that is healthy for the Kidneys. The web site Davida has plenty of food on it but contradicts what other sources say. Anyone know anything for breakfast, lunch and dinner that does not have any sugar or flour bodies the obvious boring or bland foods good for Kidneys and I’m allergic to sugar of any kind of sweetener and flour. Thank you.

Jane, your indomitable "can do" spirit that always comes "through" in your posts is as motivating as anything I read or see! Makes me get up off my lazy bottom and get going at something more worthwhile than too much escaping into tv, books or games. Your wonderful sense of humor always brings a smile. Thank you!
Hi, Rosemary, Since I joined recently, I have read a number of items from you, and I was sure I had replied to your 4/2 message but I'm not able to find my reply. As you can see, I am pretty lost here. Participating in a chat is brand new to me, and I'm working on learning the ropes! But just in case, I would feel bad if I had not replied. I want to say thank you for your kind words. I can feel your deep sincerity and caring heart in your postings and hope I can return the kindness sometime. Blessings to all this holiday! Take care and be safe!
Hi fiesty, I hope you're able to find it. I think my son can help me with it if I can get a few minutes with him! I will post it as soon as I can. Take care and stay safe!
@darlingtondoll You are doing very well. I am spending more and more time on my wheels. I wonder if you could "sweep" you floors using a Swifer because it is lighter weight and maneuvers so easily. I doubt you can pick up the sweepings, but you might be able to push it into a corner. I am thinking more and more about transporting trays and I think I might have a plexiglass tray made that will clip onto my chair. My son had one when he was little and it worked well. As far as I know there is nothing like this on the market, but maybe I just have not looked in the right places. But then, it might be best for your "helper" to be your carrier. haha
I have good news! I found it after more than an hour of searching. (I apologize it took me this long to locate this helpful reference that you can carry with you when shopping or eating out. Davita.com to me is often very hard to navigate to find what you're looking for).
Here is how to access the "Guidelines for what to eat for chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages" --
Go to -- https://www.davita.com/diet-nutrition/kidney-friendly-cookbooks
Scroll down to the first box just below "Download Our Free Kidney-Friendly Cookbooks and Diet Guide"
Click on the first box -- "Cooking for One of Two" cookbook (which has some awesome and quick recipes).
Scroll down to the end of the cookbook till you see Quick Reference Guide!
Quick Reference Guide is 2 pages, the second of which is the handy chart with "Guidelines for what to eat for choronic kidney disease (CKD) stages"
I have just posted the directions to get to the reference guide. Please let me know if I can be of any more help!

Thank you for some really good pointers. I really have a lot to learn along the way and every little bit of advice is helpful in the long run. I'm making notes of the important things I want to bring out at my next visit, including that I'm talking to people who have been down the same road as I am now. I live in a very young and relaxed town where people are much more relaxed about just everything, including health care, which is why I'm seriously thinking about going to a major medical center in a town a bit of a distrance from here but it would worth the peace of mind for my health but of course, this can't be happening till things start to get back to some sort of normal. Take care and be safe!
I'm reading in different sources the same as what you say, that a downward egfr indicates a decline in kidney function. This is why I was in a panic, seeing that I lost 8 points within a few months from December. I'm really uneasy about this but knowing that is the case I can't rest easy and really need some answers from a doctor as to why it's happening. But just thinking back to the day of the last draw, it was an unusual day when everyone was just starting to get on board with new COVID precautions. Maybe the stress caused my decline but also I had a pretty serious fall the previous day and maybe that has something to do with the drop. In any case, it means staying knowledgeable is the good medicine Thanks for your help! Take care and be safe!
