@trishanna Nope, not fluid in the ear. There are tiny hairs in our inner ears that get "bent over" and thus tinnitus is the result. That's a very un-medical description of what my neurologist and ENT told me. It's available for research on the internet.

@artist01 It's my belief that I suffer from recruitment, but so far have only associated it with my hearing problems. It would be nice if the hearing industry researched/understood recruitment. The only prescription I've been offered are "hearing aids" to make sound LOUDER. Have just purchased ear protectors to reduce noise, but can't understand anyone speaking with a mask on. Anyhow, never associated recruitment with tinnitus. Mine fluctuates with my diet - salt, food allergies.
