@joyces Since it's been two years or so since your posting about recruitment and distortion, I wondered if you've come across anything new regarding the subject. I've talked to many audiologists and researched on line, but can find no help. I was about to give in a get a hearing aid, but an accident forced postponement. I know it won't help. How much would I love to be able to enjoy my music once more. Was attending an outdoor fair near a railroad track when a train came through and blew its whistle. Thought I was going to die, but no one around me even appeared to notice. No one understands what that's like, I would think.

I know it is super frustrating as a wife to my husband who has been dealing with this for most of his life. ( alot more "attacks" in the last 8 yrs...) he is totally deaf in his rt ear and his left ear is bad and ended up getting a hearing aid. And he says it works well for him he still has tons of pressure and ringing in the ears.... we will be looking into the cochlear implant for when his hearing is almost gone but he still has enough that the hearing aid will work. With the way the world is now with these silly masks 😷 its hard for people who have learnt and coped with lip reading. I really feel for people that can't read lips now. I hope this helps a bit that there was some success in getting a hearing aid. When we first looked into it they gave us one to try for a month to see if it worked good for him.
