Shortness of breath.
I have been short of breath and went into ER yesterday. They said I had some fluid around my heart but didn't seem concerned. Is this pretty common with people on Dialysis?

@beach757, I have my stress test tomorrow. I hope they can tell me soon what is causing this shortness of breath.
@ginal, I have had you on my mind with your breathing difficulties. I hope that the stress test went comfortably for you. Have you been able to get any relief?
Rosemary
@rosemarya My stress test, Echo and Pulmonary test came back ok but I'm still short of breath which is getting me down. Days of Hemo I feel worn out and if it wasn't for the shortness of breath I'd feel pretty good on the other days. I'm set to have my PD catheter put in next Friday so maybe I can ask them what they think it could be from. Also going to ask how I get on a transplant list. Nervous about starting home dialysis but I have heard it's a good choice. I hope all is well with you and thank you so much for thinking of me. Gina
@ginal, The good news is that your tests came back good. But have you talked to your nephrologist about this shortness of breath? When kidneys are not doing what they are supposed to do - and when on dialysis - fluids can begin to accumulate in our bodies. That is why I think you need to talk to the nephrologist. Not a 'maybe'. It is your life and your health, so you need to know what is happening and whether or not there is anything that can be done by you, or any treatment that can help you.
Is anyone going to go the the appointment with you? It is always helpful to have an extra set of ears. I remember that I was always so nervous and frightened, that I couldn't remember much at all.
I hope that the catheter goes well for you.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Rosemary
@rosemarya I have talked to my nephrologist, he's the one who set up the stress test. I love to work in my flower gardens but being so short of breath makes it so hard. Had a hard time just trying to make toast this morning. Maybe this is normal for people on dialysis? I'm going to talk to the surgeon on Friday who is putting my catheter in and see what he thinks, he is also a kidney transplant doctor. Thank you again Rosemary and God Bless
@ginal, I will be thinking about you on Friday and I will remember you in my prayers.
I want to commend you for taking this proactive approach to learning about your current condition and your future possibilities.
I will look forward to hearing from you after your procedure on Friday.

@rosemarya, Hi just wanted to tell you I called the Mayo and now waiting for them to set a date for me to come down and get evaluated.
@ginal, Thank you for sharing this. Let me know what you find out. I am here if you have any questions.
Is your breathing still problematic? How are you doing with the new dialysis catheter and home dialysis?
Hugs,
Rosemary
@rosemarya, My breathing is not as bad at it was. I had one Doctor cut my blood pressure meds in half and I think that is what helped. I'm still doing Hemo and will probably start PD in a couple weeks, right now it has been bleeding a little and a little red so I'm having to put a antibiotic cream on when changing my dressing. Thank you it's so nice to have someone to converse with. Hope all is well with you, Gina
@rosemarya,Do you know where a person can buy a Peritoneal Dialysis Belts ?
