Using CBD oil to help taper off anxiety & depression meds?
I am currently in tolerance taking 30mg a day of Serepax (Oxazepam). I want to get off the benzo and realize I have to taper after 15 years of being on it. Has anyone used CBD oil minus the THC to taper off benzo's?

@lioness- Where do you get your hemp seeds?
Hello, my niece was diagnosed with RA also and she is a pharmacist and knows the side effect to the medicine for RA is so bad for your organs, so she went to a holistic doctor. She is only 32 and was in such pain. Now that she is seeing Dr.Susan (holistic doctor) and on certain vitamins she is doing great! She also uses CBD oils and they are working great!
@kimba- Good morning. Yes, CBD oil seems to be beneficial for a lot of people in a lot of different ways. Thank you for sharing your story. It must be very difficult to see your niece in pain.
Yes, she was to the point of being bedridden for days, now she is back for herself and doing great!
HI, @kimba - your niece's experience might be something you'd also want to post about in this Connect discussion about rheumatoid arthritis, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/rheumatoid-arthritis-ra-introduce-yourself-and-meet-others.
HI, @stephanieann - what I'd suggest would be to start a new discussion specifically on the antipsychotic medication you'd like to taper off of in the Mental Health group https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/mental-health/. Click on the gray "Start a discussion" box to begin. I think others would benefit from this discussion, as well.
@merpreb Hope your having a good day. I think I bought them from Vitacost Usually buy from them
@lioness - I just saw them on there! Lol. How do you judge how much to use along with the oil? I'm having a good day. Are you?
@merpreb Good question but as I understand the seeds are different for the cbd oil as the oil is from the flowers but seeds are whole not exposed to CO pressing ,not right word but know what I mean
Something I'm wondering about, re using CBD to help with tapering off (in my case) Clonazepam -- CBD inhibits the activity of the Cytochrome P450 enzyme group in the liver, which ordinarily metabolizes away the benzos and many other drugs after they've been in the body for a while. So, when CBD is present, many drugs persist in the body longer, and have more effect, than they would without CBD present. The benzos are listed as one of the drug classes with which CBD interacts in this way -- so couldn't they be potentiating the benzos, making them last longer in the system, and have more effect, than they would otherwise? (Grapefruit is another, more widely known Cytochrome P450 inhibitor, which is why we don't eat grapefruit when taking tetracycline, for example).
Does anyone have any idea how significant this would be for the use of CBD to help with weaning off Clonazepam?
