Lodging in Jacksonville, FL

Posted by EES1 @ees1, Apr 8, 2018

I have an appointment this Thursday and looking for a room for Wednesday night. The Mayo Marriott is crazy-high at $241 for AAA. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

@ees1 I am a patient at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. We have stayed at several places in the area. I was there actually last week for surgergy. We stayed at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott on Lenior Blvd. It is a quick drive to the Mayo Clinic Campus. Takes us about 15 minutes. I really liked this hotel. I asked for a first floor room, and it worked out great. Walked in the side door to my room. Rooms are clean and we were right next to the breakfast room in the morning. Rooms should be around 100.00 less than the Mayo Marriott.. Good Luck with your visit ..Jackie

@ees1 You can try Hotel.com or Hoteltonight.com (will need to download the app) they sell unsold rooms in the better hotels at deep discounts. If you want cheap, Holiday Inn on Beach Blvd, it was a little seedy looking when I stayed there last. I stayed because they allow dogs. There is AirB&B, an app where you can rent a private room or entire home/apt from an individual. If you need extended stay kind of place; you can contact a rental agency down there. Best of luck to you!

@ees1 I should also mention that many of the hotels in the Jacksonville area offer special hospital rates. You have to call them.directly to recieve the discount. I recommend you should deal directly with the hotel. This way if you need to change your reservation, it can easily get done. If you deal with an online travel agency. Many times you then need to contact the online agency to make changes. If you make your reservation directly with the hotel and mention you are a patient at a local hospital. They will go out of their way to make your stay most pleasant.

My wife and I both are patients at Mayo-Jacksonville and typically stay at the Hampton Inn 4681 LENOIR AVENUE SOUTH. The short drive to Mayo is not a problem...approx 10-15 minutes and minimal traffic. Call 1-800-Hampton for reservations. We have tried the Marriott Courtyard but a lot more expensive and the bed was soft, which my back did not like. The Hampton Garden Inn in Ponte Verda is nice, but a bit more traffic in the AM and more costly. For good seafood try Barbara Ann’s on the inter coastal.

@ees1, You have a great attitude! I hope that your visit and accommodations all work out for you.
Would you share when you get home about the lodging and food in the Jacksonville area? I feel that others will benefit from your experience.
Safe travels.
Thank you.

We are in Jax this week (and last) for my husband's transplant evaluation. We are staying at Extended Stay on Beach Blvd. We chose it because it had a kitchenette and we were having an "extended" stay. While it was VERY reasonable (less than $500 for one week), we will NOT be staying here when we return. Lots of construction workers, some people and their kids live here, the stove did not work, they only service your room one time a week and you get one roll of toilet paper. We have tolerated it because we didn't want to pack everything up to move. We will be back for two more visits this month and have made reservations at the Holiday Inn Express on Beach blvd Jax Beach (not actually on the beach). It is within 10 minutes to Mayo. We called and reserved at the Mayo patient rate of $115.00 per night. Can't speak to how good it is, but I know it will be a thousand times better than where we are now, lol. ("You get what you pay for "is the phrase that comes to my mind đŸ™‚ )
