Stop smoking panic attacks.
I am hoping someone can help me with this. I have been trying to stop smoking again. I thought I was doing good, like I always do. I was wearing the smoking patch and have been on them for over 2 weeks. Yesterday I had a panic attack. This seems to happen every time I try and quit smoking which takes me right back to smoking. I thought for sure I would make it this time. Does anyone have any suggestion as to what to use to help me with these panic attacks while trying to quit? I was on Wellbutrin before and it help me to quit but a month hit of being on it and I started getting very mean and bad thoughts so had to get off of it. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

As we get further and further away from our actual stop day from smoking and our withdrawal symptoms increase , it's extremely important to not only think about the negative side effects (like it can cancer as it did in my case) but the positive side effects, and there are many. But first it seems very hard to think that anything is positive, I get this! It's OMG will I ever get through this, what will I do instead of smoking, to fill the time, the way it keeps us comfortable, like an old friend? It was our self-image, what will it become?
Well, believe me when I say that if I could quit, you can too. I smoked a lot for 35 years. For those of you who have quit, your mouth isn't as dry, your teeth are beginning to get rid of the brown stains and your breath is fresher. Your clothes don't smell of smoke and standing closer to people without having them wrinkle their noses become much less. Your skin will become clearer and because you aren't breathing in toxins, become brighter and less gray or yellow, smoother.
Your internal organs will begin to return to a healthier rhythm, lower blood pressure and heartbeats, lower cholesterol and lower your chances of auto immune diseases and other cancers.
Your whole world opens up to be free from addiction and the worries form smoking. Are there any other positive things that come from quitting that have happened to you or that you anticipate?

@trellg132- It's not a good idea for me to tell you those because I don't want to put thoughts into your mind, and that can happen. The way I handled it was to think that any "new" thing that I experienced was do to not smoking and withdrawal and knew that it would disappear after a while. I also cam up with a mantra, no I lied, my husband did. "If you smoke, you will die." I actually said that every time that I craved a cigarette, over and over and over,and it worked. Can you think of a mantra for yourself?
The withdraws are what I'm thinking of just trying to the withdraws of the body and mind but thank I'm going to try that too
I will add my story. I smoked for over 40 years. It was difficult and emotional. I did taper down to three cigarettes a day. My choice of time. It bothered me that I was weak and could not quit. I kept two in a drawer when was time to quit. It was a great day when I threw them away. For a long time I wanted to go back but didn’t. That’s about 25 years ago. I do have copd but every day my lungs get stronger. I know there is no cure but there’s a healing process. Our bodies were made to heal but due to poor choices mine will never be complete. Today to begin is better than tomorrow. God be with you.

@jo54 - My mother quit like that too- I am so much of an addictive personality that I could never have done it that way. I had to quit all at once, cold turkey (with a patch for only 1 week). I agree with @hopeful33250. Your attitude is wonderful and is a big factor in success!

It worked for me after 55 year. Now 2 1/2 years smoke free and feel great.
