Does CBD oil help you with your depression and/or anxiety?
I am curious to know if anyone has had success with CBD or Hemp oil helping with depression/anxiety? I’ve been reading a lot about it and am curious.
I've been reading about this and am very interested but would like thoughts/opinions from anyone who has actually tried it or knows someone who has. TIA
Thank you,
Laura

I am still wondering if anyone has been successful in weaning off prescribed psychiatric drugs by using CBD??
@fairoaks- Hello and welcome to Mayo Connect. I also use CBD oil for PTSD from someone local at my compassion center. They charge $100/1 oz.. I'd love to find someone that charges less but with the same high grade oil. Will you make any recommendations please?
wife uses CBD oil and has found Charlottes Web to be good. can google it for location and mail order. Usually prices are $70-85 oz. hope that helps.
wife gets more relaxed using CBD so doesn't get upset or tense when issues come up. Reduced over the counter meds after taking this and takes less impremimine and doesn't have to worrry about any interactions.
Also uses CBD soft gels from CVSciences Inc, Las Vegas NV and has good luck with and uses 15mg to start with. $90 for 60 day supply--one a day.
@hodagwi- CBD oil is very calming for me also. Great information, thanks.
MY DEPRESSION IS EXASSERBATED BY CHRONIC PAIN .DOES THIS HELP WITH CHRONIC PAIN BY ANY CHANCE ?
@tami3- Welcome to Mayo Connect, I'm glad that you found us. Yes, chronic pain absolutely can cause you to feel sad and depressed. I say sad because pain can really put a kibosh on experiences that you know you can't do, such as move in certain ways because you've tried them. Sometimes I feel like a pouty child when I can't do certain things because of my lung cancer.
CBD oil has been reported to help people who have pain. You need to ask your doctor because CBD oil can interfere with certain drugs. You can read all about CBD oil and pain here- It's important to read all the feedback so that you can make your own choice.
"There have been recent news stories about the potential promise of CBD and/or THC oil and fighting lung cancer, such as these news stories:
https://abcnews.go.com/Health/Healthday/story?id=4506595&page=1
https://metro.co.uk/2018/03/25/could-cannabis-help-cure-lung-cancer-this-man-thinks-so-and-hes-already-spent-1-5m-on-research-7266643/
However, you'll note that both articles are quick to point out that any potential positive effects have only been studied in petri dishes or on mice in a laboratory (in vitro). This is not the same as testing and discovering positive effects in humans. So far CBD/THC is still less effective than current drugs and dosages have not been tested or proven.
Here is more information about studies done so far in vitro from the National Cancer Institute: https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/cam/hp/cannabis-pdq#section/_7 (medical professional version)

There is nothing that substantiates that CBD oil cures anything. But it does help a lot of people as you will see with all the posts.

I hope that you feel better. Please let me how you make out. We are all here for you!
Amazing post. Thanks
Personally I use Sunsoil, was Green Mountain, 600 mg. It has a light peppermint taste. I hold .25 ml of tincture under my tongue for approximately 10 minutes. The CBD is absorbed sublingualy. I dose twice a day. Your dose may be lower or higher. Too much won't work just like too little won't either. A bottle costs about $32.00 delivered in 3 to 4 days. Have heard good things about Blue Bird Botanicals, Charlottes Web, Lazarus also. Lazarus has a discount program for veterans or low income qualified customers. Hope this helps.
CBD has been used to alleviate or reduce certain types of chronic pain and anecdotally has been successful with many in reducing pain. . You could do a search on line to see the many articles on chronic pain and CBD. I would also check with your doctor to make sure that no drug interaction would occur. However, many physicians are not familiar with CBD and its many uses so many of them will just tell you to avoid it . Much more research needs to be done. This clinic run by nurse practitioner advises patients who have chronic pain and other medical issues, about the use of CBD. I do not know if they do phone consultations. They are in Northern California https://www.radiclehealthcare.com/ Hope this helps
