Low back pain & neuropathy issues
68 years old and lower back+neuropathy issues make staying active hell. Used to be avid jogger and now cannot be on my feet for more than 10-15 minutes. No meds help. Very depressing.

Hosta, I agree with wsh66. Please keep trying different pain meds. That's what I'm doing. My dr. will no longer prescribe opiods. So far we haven't found one. Lyrica doesn't work. I live alone. All family members are in other states. But while my house also needs repairs, it is my home. As you mentioned, do you know what makes some days worse than others? I haven't been able to figure out why it happens to me, too. I've thought about humidity, heat, cold, anxiety and depression. And even what I had to eat the day before. Do you have any clues? My condolances on the loss of your husband. Take care.
Hi @parus, I am alone. I have no one. When I feel pain or depression I pray it will pass. If I need to take an extra pill to help w/the pain I do. I have started cymbalta and hoping that will kick in soon but it is a challenge and I wonder how long I will be able to live independently. I am 60.
wsh66, I have told the doctor about the meds making me feel dopey. So far he hasn't given me any thing but hydrocodone-acetaminophen for pain. I am also on Gabapentin for nerve pain, and pramipexole for restless legs. among other meds for other problems. The cost for meds are so high. But I won't give up. Thanks Good luck to you also!
oregongirl, You are so lucky that you have your dogs! I wish I could have one. They are so much company. I can't walk one especially in the winter. I don't have a fenced yard. I plan to stay in my home as long as possible. My husband and I started a greenhouse business 31 years ago. I turned it over to my oldest daughter last year. I am having so much pain in my upper back that it hurts so badly when I use my arms to transplant plants. I will help as much as I can. I love it and we have made so many wonderful friends thru the years. My church family helped us last year and some have offered their help this year! God is good!
cognac , For my upper back, using my arms while cooking, at the computer, helping in my greenhouse business, etc: Also, for the lower back. Just standing. I use heat and that seems to help. I sure wish I had a solution. I would fix everyone. Ha!
Drugs work different for everyone. Be care with Hydrocodone. Hang in there.
You are so young doxylune. I am going to be 76 in April. I ask God for anotther 10 to 15 years please.. I want to see my grandkids grow up. I understand that our life is not the most pleasant with pain. Pray and ask God for help to get through it all.
Cognac..WOOOOO that is a very good sounding drug. I cannot drink any alcohol with the drugs I am taking and the infusion. My once a week shot will leave me totally in pain if I drink. Also, our Liver is easy to destroy. I just want to be careful.
hosta...Yes, our Church family means a great deal. I have not gone to church for three weeks. I go to a huge church and I am sure someone in there probably has the flu. I know we cannot hold off the germs with our disease. So, My pastor is also on TV, so I just watch him on there. Pastor John Hagee and his son John Hagee Jr. Sr. is about 70 and will have to slow down. He is a great teacher and says it like it is. He is not perfect however and some people do not like him. I am looking for a church closer to my home. Wish me well.
