Low back pain & neuropathy issues

Posted by timmckinney @timmckinney, Feb 6, 2018

68 years old and lower back+neuropathy issues make staying active hell. Used to be avid jogger and now cannot be on my feet for more than 10-15 minutes. No meds help. Very depressing.

I feel your pain...literally! I am 63 (in a month) and I also suffer from chronic pain. My lumbar and cervical spines are in real trouble! At one point I stopped walking for over 2 years because of the pain. I also had severe, I want to die pain in my left arm to fingers that came from my cervical spine. I went to a pain doc who gave me a shot. The shot was the answer and thankfully it worked for years!
As for my lower issues, I saw 4 docs. They all tried lots of things that didn't work. Three years ago I moved and went to one doc who was good for nothing. I searched and searched and finally found a pain doc who is about 1-2 hours away (because of traffic, it can be longer). He has worked MAGIC on my lumbar spine!. He uses a fluoroscope to find the sweet spot, based on my MRIs and what I tell him. His shots usually last 8-12 weeks if I behave.
I agree with Jim. You are too young to be homebound. Do some research in your area for a good pain doc. Read reviews by patients and other docs.

A couple of sites you can use:
vitals.com
Zocdoc.com
nationalpeerreview.com
WebMD.com
ratemds.com

Hope this helps.

I understand! If they can do that in little old Greenville, SC, I would expect they can do the procedure where you are. If not, call a Greenville doc and you can use my couch while you recover. I am not a nurse, but I know how to order pizza and make coffee.

Parus this is why I use alot of holistic meds We have to be proactive in our care ,so many here have said use herbs, homeopathic,Tens unit, chiropractor ,what works for one won't for others so it's a trial and error we have to do. One thing I like for pain is Arnica ☕ it's great at relieving pain .Get it at Rite Aid only place I,ve found it.God be with you .

Lioness, I "Googled" Arnica tea and it said this tea was for external use only. It said don't drink it because it's toxic. What am I missing here? Cognac

You mention "homeopathic", just what do you mean? Homeopathy used to be the practice of among other things, using trace amounts of some very bad things. Poisons to treat poisoning. There was The College of Homeopathic Medicine in Philadelphia but it closed due to bad press and reopened as a standard Medical college. As far as I know, Herbal remedies, with which I have some real experience, and most holistic practices fall outside of homeopathy. Please expand on what you are referring to when you suggest the use of "homeopathic". Also I was under the impression that we were asked to share what had worked for us without suggesting what other should do. If I say Healing Touch worked for me, you can decide for your self if you should try it. I am an aspiring Qigong healer and part of our training is to never ever suggest that a certain thing cures. It's a very touchy legal issue. For instance I would never suggest you should get a checkup based on what I think I know about your condition. The underlying principle of energy work is that whatever you recieve from these practices is to help you heal yourself and in thew final analysis, even the medicines we take and the surgeries we have basically help us to heal ourselves.

I goggled it to and it is a homeopathic remedy and a very dangerous one. It is used in a very diluted form and if you're getting it in a commercial tea I would assume it is safe. This is a common theme in homeopathy, to use poisons in trace amounts. This practice is what led to the discrediting of Homeopathy as a legitimate medical practice. The other side of the coin is, it have worked to some degree to have ever had it's own College dedicated to teaching it.It is used externally for bruises and other skin disorders. Arnica has also been shown to help with mouth sores in children with cancer caused by chemotherapy.

I don't know I,ve been drinking it for a couple of months Maybe it's from a different strength or part of the plant I,'ll check it out Its gets rid of the pain that's all I know. The tea is from the flower the root is usually more potent in any herb but if it was,nt o.k. I'm sure Rite Aid would,nt be selling it.I,'ll do some more research on other sites and let you know what I find out. It's my guess Google is referring to the roots. Thanks for posting
