Has anyone been diagnosed with Abdominal Wall Pain

There is a $10.00 book called “life after pain” by Dr. Jonathan Kuttner. He discusses pain sensitization and also has some online courses where you can retrain your pain system. It works for many.

One more question: have you tried the enzymes nattokinase and serrapeptidase? They may help scar tissue remodel which can cut down on nerve compression which is often the cause of pain. Along with vitamin c, quercetin, resveratrol and stretching and exercise I got rid of a lot of myofascial pain thanks to the package of supplements- but especially the two enzymes. Those are taken on an empty stomach.

4 years now,I've lived with it everyday. Had all the diagnostics you listed. The only thing that helped a little was the injections. 6 of them one morning. All in my lower abdomen. It was a cocktail. Beupivicain,Cannalog, and something else. (Please excuse the spelling). But those are just a bandaid.Im currently switching doctors. So fingers crossed. I can take some pain. Broke my back 3 times, both shoulders twice, etc. But the pain from this, everyday is unreal. If I didn't have kids, I wouldn't be here anymore. Good luck, and please keep us posted. I'll do likewise.

Yes, I had the same thing happen to me. I would wake up in the middle of night with tremendous pain and ended up going to the ER several times. They took CT scans and blood tests, but everything came back normal. I can take pain and I am not a nervous hypochondriat. Ended up going to a gastroentologist, who came to the conclusion, that I had IBS, after some endostropies. But I still wake up at night with terrible pain and I do not know,
what causes it. I have sometimes put some hot or warm water bottle on it and it seems to help. But is that the answer? And I wake up two or three times.
Doctors seem not be worried, but I am, since I never had problems before. Could eat and drink anything. Travelled internationally a lot, and never even
had an upset stomach. Of course used common sense, when eating some things unknown to me. Now I skip dinner often, because I am afraid of that terrible pain! Does anybody had that problem?
I take ducalex and stool softeners and also a probiotic VSL 3 every day, to make sure, that I do not get constipated.
Should I seek more medical advise?

I too have been treated for ab wall pain. Have had right upper ab pain going on 5 years and have had every test possible. All negative. The pain dr performed trigger point injections to no avail. My next course of action is a MRI of the thoracic spine to see if the pain is being generated from the spine. Can I ask how your pain feels? Stabbing? Aching? Burning? For now I am on Tramadol and gabapentin for pain control; however they come withy their own side effects and after 5 years have become less effective in pain control. I've researched everything I can think of so hearing what someone else has done is helpful.

With all the reading and research I've done, it's clear to me that medical care in the U.S. is useless in treating chronic pain. (How do we even find each other here, since we're posting under "DIGESTIVE HEALTH"?!) I've had 12 physicians and 2 P.A.s near home brusoff presumably because all scans, tests, etc. were negative. MDs won't believe the pain, so we're labeled as drug seekers! Outside the U.S., there are a number of documented successful treatments (all of which we've been denied in the U.S.) Here all they do is hand me a prescription..24 in 2 years...none for neuropathy. I had to diagnose abdominal wall pain myself (later substantiated by University of Washington pain physicians BTW) but I'm still a patient to be ignored, with 5 more MDs who brushed me off. Why do we have to visualize suicide as the only possible way out?

I am currently at Mayo Clinic Rochester MN. I have had severe (worse than childbirth pain) for 23 yr after I had gallbladder out. I was diagnosed based on symptoms not testing and by this was reconfirmed by dozens of ER visits over the years. Pain began in center or upper abdomen and always radiated to the back. I had to take Morphine or Dilaudid it was the only thing reducing my pain below 7. Last 2 years huge increase in stress plus more fat than usual resulted in episodes up to twice a wk for nearly a yr.

Moved 7 mo ago and the original doc who dx me with chronic pancreatitis 17 yr ago decided it wastnt because I have not lost tons of weight or been hospitalized. Meanwhile I got a prescription for percocet that reduces pain enough I usually dont end up at ER.

I came to Mayo to find out if I had chronic pancreatitis or not. I was told my wonderful GI doc here that it is abdominal wall pain and I am getting a shot for it Monday. I dont know if ultrasound will be used. She also said she can prescribe pain meds if the shots dont work. I do not have chronic pancreatitis or an ulcer.

He my name is Sherry, I’ve been hvin sever pain under and around rib cage,plus stomach hurts to bad to wear jeans it’s sore... I hv GERD.. it hurt so bad under left rib cage I cldnt move for about 10 minutes.. it’s very sore still hurts...I’ve had gallbladder removed..any suggestions??

Hi Sherry, Even if you have had your gallbladder removed your liver could still make gallbladder stones, that then get stuck in the liver
ducts. This recently happened to a friend of mine. He had really bad pain now and then for several years, then it got very bad, and he went to the ER, where they did CTs etc, and found the gallstones. They scheduled surgery and removed them. He is fine now. So maybe that is something to check out...
