@arachel

I have been using zolpidem 10 mg for sleep every night for the last 15 years. I am an insomniac and I have anxiety, depression and panic disorder. I take Effexor for the panic etc and have started slowly withdrawing from that. I also want to stop taking zolpidem. My doctor has no problem with me staying on it, but I want to be able to sleep normally without taking drugs. Has anyone had any experience with zolpidem dependency?

No ambien for the last 4 nights. Substituted 50 mg, of trapazone and upped Xanax to .5. Still 2 Benadryl , but no melatonin. Slept great 3 out of the 4 nights. Still planning on seeing sleep therapist after my vacation.

Yes, I am dependent on Zolpidem. Stating using it about 13 years ago. Went from 5mg to 12.5cr, which is the highest dose. Have tried to get off of it by using other prescription sleep aids and over the counter, i.e, melatonin 10mg to no effect. I am 74 and single. Not active because of chronic foot and back pain. Otherwise, I'm pretty healthy. On a good day I get about 6 hours sleep which is ok but there are some days I only get 4 or 5 hours. Hopefully when I get rid of most of this pain, I can be more active so i should sleep longer. I've tried not taking the zolpidem and I don't get as much sleep. Very frustrating as sleep is very important.
