Months of Chest Pain - Please help
Hello all,
My name is Brandon and I'm a 34 year old male. I'm excited to get signed up on here and hopeful this may help my anxiety which is through the roof! I have been through ongoing chest pain for the past 4 months. The pain started off as a pinch on the left side of chest. It evolved into a pinch and pressure onto the right side of chest. It would be nearly daily, but didn't really get worse after meals or doing a lot of exercising. The pain then started radiating to my shoulders and sometimes into my arms but rarely. Now, it radiates into my jaw occasionally. I get a wierd fluttering in my chest occasionally when I lay down, but when i sit up and get doing stuff I don't realize it much. Now the chest pain mainly feels like pressure in my chest snd i get occsssional sharp pains on the lower portion of my ribs and sometimes on each side of my sternum. What could this be?
Here's what all I've had done....
CT scan of heart and heart echo - found i have a slightly dialated aerota at the base that they will monitor yearly. I also have a bicuspid aerota valve with moderate regurgitation. Cardiologist does not think my heart is causing the pains. I have no blockages at all and they aren't concerned at all of a heart attack.
I was scoped and found i have a moderate to large hiatal hernia and esophagitas. They also did a manometry test and found I was having esophogas spasms. I am set to have a bravo test this week to see if acid reflux might be the cause. I bet that will show that is the case because I've had acid reflux since my late teens / early 20s.
During my CT scan, they saw a slightly enlarged lymphnode...which i think was on the right side of my chest. They said they would recheck that in 6 months. I had a cold or infection during that test and had some congestion and they say that may of been the reason for that.
I have been on a proton pump inhibitor, zantac and tums as needed but i haven't really noticed much of an improvement on them, if at all.
I have back problems and a neck injury as well. They also think that may be the cause of the chest pain. I had an MRI which did not show any nerve compression but I am constantly battling neck and back pain, sometimes severe.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks all,
Brandon

@helena4000 I had triple by pass at 56 85%,90%95% better ckage I hopr your seeing a cardiologist Idid and was sent right to hospital for catherization then a ballon first didnt work so a gradt from leg still doing fine
I emailed my Dr with results of my urgent care visit and he said to schedule a stress test (I'm not even sure he'd recommend that if the urgent care clinic didn't). So I will do that tomorrow. I'm not sure about his judgment at this point though.
@helena4000 Im glad you did this After stress test is done he will probably send you to a cardiologist if not you insist on it We need to be our own advocate as you know your body not Dr,s listen to your body
Ok, thank you for the good advice. I need to know what's going on..it's getting disruptive.
@helena4000 Your welcome Wishing you the best remember always listen to your body @advocate
You sound exactly like what I am going through!!! Have been to our little hospital's ER 3 times in the last year...and all they do is change meds and tell me it is stress!!! Every time the new meds make me worse. About 6 months ago I was given Monurol for a recurring UTI. Within 2 days, I could barely get any food down w/o terrible stomach pain after. During the last 6 months, I have lost approx. 50 pounds. I can't even drink ensure with out getting stomach pain. Have not been able to get my doctor to see me more than once a month. I also have had Cauda Equina Syndrome for 15 years and am not able to be very active because of the numbness in my legs and derrière. Between the two, I have lost a ton of muscle and am feeling like I will never be able to come back from whatever is causing this! I am 70! Has anyone out there had trouble with taking Monurol?? This is awfulness! After I eat, I feel like I can't keep the food down. However...I just throw up mucus...no food comes up!! I am desperate for help! There is anxiety, but it isn't the cause, it is because I am so sick and terribly weak and I can't find out what is wrong. From a rural area and no s lectionaries of Drs. Am sick to death of the "stress diagnosis!!" Do not want to get addicted to stress meds. Help!!
Drawn to your post because I have a son named Brandon with similar issues. This was dated 2017 so I hope you have found some answers.
Auto correct...no selection of Drs!!!
It was written today...March 18, 2019. Waiting for a phone call as to what is next. Thought I might get a referral to Cleveland Clinic, but Dr says have to have a colonoscopy first. So weak, I can't imagine doing it! My insurance Denied the colonoscopy request because the hospital where the specialist does them is not In Network!! The Dr resubmitted the request ! Meanwhile, I continue to lose 1/2 a pound a day. Pretty soon they won't have to bother with me!!
What you're going through is just awful. I'm so sorry you are in such pain. Did they check your gaul bladder? You've probably had CT scans already?
