@cowgirlmt, Kimmy, I am so glad to hear that you are improving. You had me very worried. I am no doctor, so I cannot advise you what to do. I would think that a lung biopsy trumps a sputem test. You know, you may have just still been feeling lousy from the pneumonia. It takes a long time to totally get over that. Question, what did your last CT scan show? Did you have a flu shot this fall? If you continue to improve, stay vigilant on staying healthy. You may want to have an Infectious Disease doc lined up for the future so that you have a plan in place in case you become seriously ill again. Are you taking Singulair by any chance?
Hi Cowgirl: same here, all medications stopped because of side effects. i tested positive also. It has been a year and I no longer fvery good. Thank god I haven't gotten sick! I know the bacteria is growing, I can feel it, so I might to the canadian trial with nitric oxide...maybe. xo
Can you tell me about what your side effects were?
@windwalker I am glad that I am finally feeling better, I just hope this lasts, I still have all the antibiotics in my system.. So give it about a week and see how I feel then.. lol This has been a very long process, I had the pneumonia back in May. I haven't had a repeat CT since they had admitted me first part of June. I have had many xray's but no CT. I am thinking that I need to have a repeat done. I received the flu/prevnar23.. I am wondering if moving to a drier climate would also be better for my health.. I have Singulair as a rescue inhaler; but it doesn't seem to help at all..
@cowgirlmt, Singulair are pills, not an inhaler. CT scans should only be done once a year max, they are powerful and do damage to cells. So use sparingly. Stay well!
@unicorn Medications are so harsh sometimes.. I tried taking them, but the Big 3 actually landed me in the hospital because of severe side effects.. I am glad to hear that you haven't gotten sick! I keep thinking that it is all in my head; I have never been sick and now this is just an ongoing battle. lol Have to stay positive, another reason I am thinking of moving. So I can be closer to my family and friends for support. But at the same time, it will be more difficult to find healthcare options.
cowgirl, yes meds are fierce! Even my vision went south, but since stopping them I have gotten worse. Waiting to hear back from nitric oxide trials
Wrong med, sorry very insane day.. haha.. I was on Singulair for about 3 months; but they stopped cause didn't notice any changes. I had 2 CT's within 2 1/2 weeks when I was admitted the 2 different times. First was clear, the second one showed the spot on my lung.. Just worries me, that can be growing. I was told not to worry about the infection getting worse as long as xray comes back clear.. At the same time with my pneumonia, xray didn't really show, and CT did.. So I am just in a holding pattern it feels like.
@unicorn You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hope that you get to feeling better, and that you find a treatment you will help you.
@windwalker My primary stopped all my antibiotics end of last week. I am still doing daily breathing treatments, and using my Breo. That seems to help with the coughing.. I actually am feeling a little better since stopping all the medications. He thinks since I have issues with medications that I was having more side effects, than the medicine actually helping me.. We will see how all this works out; just hoping I can stay healthy since it is now flu season :/ We got all my records in, and my sputum tested positive, but from the lung biopsy he says that it showed negative. So with the lung biopsy negative, and all my xrays clear he says I don't need to be on medications. However he says if I want we can find another infectious disease doctor.. I just have no idea what to do.. Is this something that I need to follow up on or just trust my primary and keep up with my breo and breathing treatments..
