Music Helps Me

Posted by Parus @parus, Oct 13, 2017

At times music can be helpful. I like the group Anthem Lights...A new discovery for me when I was perusing youtube. A Capella has always been my thing. I love to sing!!!!!

I could not agree more about the benefits of music. I’ve played the violin since the age of eight, but because of my severe poly neuropathy, I wasn’t able to use this as an outlet anymore. My first attempt at playing was devastating. Second attempt; I was able to hold the bell perfectly and somewhat play. By the third attempt weeks later, I was able to use vibrato and actually PLAY! Music is such a huge part of my life and I completely believe in its healing powers.

Big congratulations on your perseverance.
You did not give up!
When I was a child a nun who taught piano also introduced the violin to us. I had an old violin to play. I read that the tonal quality of violins improve as they age. Hope that is the same for the ‘players’!!

@lioness another thing I have seen is that a lot of us older folks like to use the "zoom" feature of windows and when you have it too large, say 150% it hides some parts of the window because it can no longer show it when it's zoomed in. You can usually see the zoom for Internet Explorer at the lower right corner of the window. Here's how to check: http://in5stepstutorials.com/ie/zoom-in-out-in-internet-explorer-change-default-zoom.php

Hi @lioness, Another way to zoom or decrease a window is to hit "Control" and either the plus sign (to make the window bigger) or "Control" and the minus sign (to make it smaller). I like to use shortcuts.

@lioness I have not had any problems with Chrome and have been using it just about forever, so yes I do like it. When they were imposing Edge on me I did not like that as much but that could have just been because it was not what I was used to.

I originally saw this video on Facebook and wanted to share. It's the song from Grease the movie with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. These two guys do the song, practicing social distancing and having fun. Warms the heart...must have watched it a dozen times as I love that song. Enjoy!

@zeiracorp @johnbishop What a fun way to start my day! Thanks for the smiles! The best version of "Uptown Funk" I have watched is the one done in American Sign Language. I love the song and the beat.

Thanks Ginger! @gingerw - Just did a search and found this one in sign language but probably not the one you were referring to. My mother grew up in an orphanage and learned sign language. She tried to teach me but I wasn't a good learner at the time 🙁
