Thermal Ablation for epilepsy

Has anyone had thermal ablation surgery? What were your results?

Here is a video of Dr. Jerry J. Shih, neurologist and director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at Mayo Clinic in Florida talks about the newer treatment options for patients with seizures and epilepsy, including laser thermal ablation.


And this video about a patient who had laser thermal ablation treatment.

Are you a candidate for this procedure, Sue? Or have you already had it done?

Hi Colleen, thanks for the information. My 20 year old son is the potential candidate. We will be meeting with a surgeon in a couple weeks.

I have essential tremors and I am wondering if thermal ablation is being utilized for my condition?

Hello,
Do you actually have a seizure disorder with myoclonus? If so what type of Epilepsy do you have?

No I do not have seizures. Just a degenerative brain disorder called essential tremor. The condition causes the hands, trunk & head to shake uncontrollably.

Hi, @suellipo68 - wanted to check in with you and see how your son is doing? How is his epilepsy lately? Did he end up having thermal ablation?
