I’ve been on a prednisone taper for almost one year, down to 1 mg.

Diagnosed with PMR, 11/2025. I’ve been slow taper on prednisone with success, on 1 mg for two more weeks, until 6 days ago. Severe flare, elevated CRP, ESR, pain and exhaustion. So discouraged. My rheumatologist discussed starting kevzara while increasing prednisone to 5 mg.
Has anyone had similar experience and did you start the biological or try taper again. I’m very disappointed and discouraged.

No experience with Kevzara but I have tapered iff Prednisone thanks to Hydroxycloroquine. Peednisone was the first med that gave me any pain relief. Hydroxycloroquine was rhe second. Couldnt have stopped prednisone without it. No side effects. They both were a God sent med for me

Glad to hear Hydroxychloriquine worked for you. It's such a safe drug, been around so many years, it's safety profile and how well it's tolerated by most people. It's something I might look into if I need another medication for pain or to get off Kevzara (while tapering off Prednisone). I'm sure it must be much less expensive (by a lot of bet!) Thanks for sharing this. Blessings.
