My aging husband is new territory for me. I need resources.

My husband and I have been married for almost 25 years. He is 84, I am 70. He is becoming forgetful and, naturally, tired. This is all new to me and I want to do the very best for him as he has done for me through the years.
I've looked online and all I can find is information for Alzheimer's and Dementia. But he doesn't have any of that.
Where can I get some good information on aging, the process and what I can do for him.
Thank you.

Hi there. Another resource is the Area Agency on Aging. Every state has local offices, which are government run. If you do a search for the above and add your state, you will get the locations of all the offices. Hopefully, there's one that is close. Another thing to think about is getting an evaluation, a cognitive evaluation. Neuropsychology specifically focuses on this. He may be resistant, but if it comes from his PCP or a geriatrician, and it's explained that it's only to establish a baseline measurement, he may be more open to it. You could also say you want one too. It's actually a good thing for everyone. Going to exercise together is always good, social activity is great. Caregiving is hard, self-care is key. I hope this helps. Good luck with this.

Have you looked into a local “village“? There are about 300 villages in the United States, which are dedicated to helping senior citizens age in their homes. Each one is a small nonprofit organization covering a specific geographic area. Comprised of volunteers and members who are there to help you age in your home. Go to a website called village to village network and you’ll see a map of all the villages in the United States. Perhaps there is one that can augment any new services you already seek.

Hi- Can you please further define a local "village?" Do you mean a Senior Citizen Center? Thank you for more insight.

Here's a link to the Village to Village Website.
I would say if you are lucky to live in a Village community, you are very lucky.
There are about 300 in the US.
