Cataract surgery issues for CTD?
I am scheduled for Cataract surgery this week. I am just starting methotrexate and tapering off a burst of prednisone. Can my CTD cause problems for cataract surgery?
I know I have amyopathic dermatomyositis.

I would ask both cataract surgeon and your RA doctor, because eye drops with a antibiotic are usually prescribed as a drop in eye daily one week before eye surgery and up to 4-6 weeks after it is important to check if that antibiotic drop is ok with methotrexate. I had a bad UTI and the antibiotic prescribed caused toxicity with the weekly dose of methotrexate and I had severe bleeding in urine for 3 days. This happened twice over 8 months to me. I found my own research telling how certain antibiotics should never be taken with methotrexate.
Could be the drops are such low dose wilt be a problem but I would make sure. I was told this reaction is not common but better nit yo be the patient it affects.
Thank you. Excellent advice. I was on doxycycline which a tetracycline not a penicillin when I was started on MTX. So it was safe but could affect titers. Anyway this eye drop is moxifloxicine and i will have to check on compatibility.
My other concern is whether my friable slow healing skin, like on my hands and tender places on my face, are in anyway similar to how my eyes will heal. That thought makes me anxious.
