Coping after spouse unplanned triple bypass

Posted by lisaart @lisaart, 4 days ago

My spouse had unplanned open-heart triple bypass three weeks ago. I still feel sad, cry easily and of course neither of us sleep much.

I'm so sorry for both of you! Something that major and unexpected is very hard to deal with! However, think of the good side. Your spouse is still with you! Enjoy the time that you have together. Pray and ask God for a lot more time. God will be there for you. My husband died of lung cancer two years ago. We prayed every day and with stage 4 lung cancer, my husband lived for 14 years. We enjoyed every minute of those 14 years!

Do try and get more sleep. That's very important for both of you to be in good health. Pray about that too. I'll say a prayer for both of you also.
I wish you the best.

I’m so sorry about how it is going for you and your husband. What you are going through is extremely common for people who even have all the best of support, and having this happen unexpectedly ( what a shock it can be ) adds a load of stress on both of you. People talk about how wonderful we have it these days to fix many health problems but often leave out how hard it still is.
Please reach out to your doctor/ nurses/ care teams to ask for support as you try to navigate this life changing experience. That’s what they are there for and they know how to help you and your husband cope and heal through this difficult time. Unfortunately it is not a short walk in the park but with good understanding and teaching from the nurses, etc it can become more manageable.
Best wishes and prayers on this journey.!
