Fatigue from spinal stenosis

Has anyone experienced fatigue from spinal stenosis? I’m curious about this because I have severe lumbar and cervical stenosis.
Thank you!

And am experiencing bad fatigue.
I have had blood work done and it shows anemia. But, since my stenosis affects the nerves, I’m wondering if it may add to the fatigue.

Hello. Oh yes yes I have plenty of fatigue and actually I’ve had cervical spine surgery last year and I have a spacer in my neck. My surgeon is excellent. Can’t even see a scar there. I am actually having spinal fusion to my lumbar area this Friday coming up so that will be challenging and I will have a couple rods and also a spacer in that area but yes, I’m always fatigue and me having obstructive severe sleep apnea thank you for the doesn’t help that and my upper thighs are always sore. It has radiated to my legs so a lot of times my walking can be difficult. I am unable to stand, walk for shorts or long periods of times without any actual pain medicine does not help the situation. I use lidocaine cream. I’ve done everything on my part.

I am an 81 YO male and have been complaining to my doctors that since my right knee replacement I can't seem to shake tired legs. I do have spinal and lumbar stenosis and I have a great minimally invasive neurosurgeon on call. My pain doctor gave me an epidural steroid shot in May of 2025 and, finger crossed, it is still working.

I recently switched from Lipitor to nothing and then Nexlizet to lower cholesterol in case the lipid was causing my tired legs. Before my knee failed I used to walk 3-5 miles a day in an indoor facility. Now I do about 1.2 miles and take a rest and read a book on my kindle and then get up and do it again. But I stop at 2-2.5 miles

I just had blood tests done and nothing extraordinary pops out, I am meeting with my internist next week and will see what he thinks.

I’m not diagnosed with stenosis (waiting on MRI results) but my logical brain tells me that the spine being the information highway is so inflamed that it affects the whole body! Sleep is not great and pain uses so much mental and physical energy that day to day living is exhausting! I’m at maybe 5% ability to be up and around taking care of a household. The only relief is sitting. Laying down takes time for the pain to subside long enough to go sleep.

@ruthfm
I understand what you mean. I really don’t sleep that well. My neurologist put me on Gabapentin and it has helped me manage the pain. But I can’t sit and stand for too long, which limits me on things I can do, church being one of them because of the sitting for the ride there, sitting and standing during the service, then the ride home. Very frustrating!!
I’m ok for a short time each day then I’m done, so tired.
Life has definitely changed.
