I have tried Brooks, Hoka, K swiss, Nike, and Altra, all with many different inserts, so over $1200 in shoes and inserts but so far nothing helps so far, but I am only into this for 3 years this year. Very disappointing.
Please post if you ever find anything. I have SFN.
Thanks,
John

How about Orthofeet shoes? The reviews sound really good.

My problem with shoes and even socks is different. I have Idiopathic Small Fiber PN. My symptoms are only sensory. I get severe burning pain when wearing shoes from the light pressure of the shoes, which is misinterpreted as burning (this is called dysesthesia). I think I get some relief from wearing shearling lined shoes like Ugg. Does anyone with similar problems have other suggestions for shoes?
Thanks

@arcuri24 Up until a year ago I wore Brooks for run/walk 5ks. They were great. Abruptly I was unable to continue running, but I have been able to keep on walking. Brooks still are great for balance and support.

My running days also seem to be over. My feet are okay but the pounding of my feet when running seems to throttle my spine. Happy to be walking and yes, Brooks does offer support and steadiness. They are worth the cost.

I did find that I could resume my lurching run/walk on well packed beach sand for as long as 15 minutes or so. At the time I was accompanied by two young ladies: one an Olympic gold medalist and the other a world class triathlete. Talk about motivation!

I find that having light weight soles and shoes are the best. Also shoes that are easy to slip on and off as I usually look to sit down if walking a lot and having the ability to slip them off is beneficial. And of course sandals during warmer weather work well for me.

I tried Orthofeet and they were not good for me. I need a very wide sneaker with much heel cushioning to get through an exercise walk. I also need a cushy heel pad inside. That said, I find Hoka Arahi suitable. Topo is my second favorite. Neither of them are perfect since I have very I uncomfortable feet pretty much all the time. Only thing that helps me is using an ice pack after I am on my feet.
