Hemorrhagic stroke: What have you experienced afterward?

Yes brain bleed = hemorrhagic stroke. Caused by blood vessels that break or leak killing Brain cells because they cant get oxygen.

I had a hemorrhagic stroke 7 years ago. My left side was impaired and it took months of therapy to learn to walk without assistance. My left arm and leg are often hypersensitive to touch, and my left foot feels different on a daily basis. Sometimes it feels like I’m stepping on a rock and other times I’m unstable. It’s frustrating to try to plan physical activity, but at least I can walk!

Do you have Centr Poststroke Pain,CPSP from your stroke? I sure hope you don't. I do from an ischemic stroke 4.5yrs ago.
It iz awful!! Anyone else out there suffering from CPSP ?more common with ischemic stroke affecting pain relay centervin brain, thalamus and spino-thalamic nerve pathway supposedly.
I currently take gabapentin but still have the brain" creating the pain".

@wnasholds There are multiple medicines if one hasn't worked. It's common in the UK for an anti epileptic and an anti depressant, both with pain relieving properties, to be prescribed at the same time.

Yeh it's not at all nice, temperature, touch, stress can all trigger the pain. It seems it is not unknown for there to be dynamic hypertonia ie movable but mild spasticity which apparently is hard to diagnose. It is often missed as a result.
The underlying Spasticity can flare up, that tightness then triggers irritated muscles, leads to CPSP. It seems often that the medics try to treat CPSP but might miss the underlying cause of it being so severe.
There is a "stroke improvement group" forum set up with lots of posts about CPSP. Recently there have been multi country zoom calls where those of us with CPSP share ideas, research we have come across, any tips etc. details are on the forum in the cpsp section.

@winjki After perhaps a few years with seemingly not too much research happening, there are multiple countries looking at Deep Brain Stimulation for cpsp.
There are other items which are right at the cutting edge. rTMS which involves using magnetic fields to try to minimise the pain levels.

The latest experimental project is looking to use high powered ultrasound.

An 80 year old family member in excellent health had a hemorrhagic stroke last October. He had (as his neurologist predicted) continuing headaches until the blood dissolved in his head. It took several months. He also went through a few confused spells within the first post-stroke months, but he is doing quite well now. Thank G-d.

@barbaradh I had a stroke 3 weeks ago and still have occluded CA, my headaches are insane. Some days it feels like a drill in my head. I’m taking B2, mag glycinate & Coq10 but no relief. Also lets of Tylenol. No one has explained why I have the headaches, blood vessels expanding? Did your brother get an explanation? Are the headaches part of my life now?

Same thing for me, months of headaches and then strokes. Mine strikes were ischemic tho. No lasting damage either

It was explained to me that the headaches may likely continue for several months until the blood accumulation “dissolves”. He had his stroke the first week of October and by mid-December the blood accumulation no longer showed up on MRI.
