This is the $64,000 question. . .WHY NO MED FOR NEUROPATHY?
YES, Capitalized as others have asked this, trumpeted this question before. With: all the money out there, the blockbuster drug potential, Big Pharma money, et al. how can a drug not have been produced that blocks the pain, electrical charge and current, pins/needles effect of neuropathic pain and discomfort?? Something that targets this type of pain and nerve pathway. It's just INCONCEIVABLE. . . . No aspirin, no Advil, no prescription med except off- label Lyrica, Gabapentin, anti-depressants, etc.
SO, DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY MEDICATION IN THE OFFING, NEAR FUTURE??? Is anyone or anyplace working on this??? If for the massive amount of money to be made if nothing else? Do I ask too much?!

@plenty55 I don’t know what state you live in but I’m in CT. I sat with a pharmacist at a medical mj dispensary and told them I have “bee sting,” nerve damage from a surgery when I was opened for ALIF fusion. They picked a concentrate that’s in a plastic syringe. (1) rice grain dose in an empty capsule knocked it out completely. Zero side effects except giggling. I use to take (1) capsule BID now it’s every other day. While it great for radiculopathy and stinging, it doesn’t help the cervical myelomalacia I’m also suffering from. I haven’t found anyone to teach me what to expect since the surgery is just slowing progression. I had an awful night last night and it’s wearing me out.
If anyone has this I’d love to learn how you cope. Tizanidine wakes me up exactly 6 hours after taking it so they switched me to Flexoril which doesn’t seem sufficient for these GIANT spasms that consume my shoulders, neck arms and my right bicept is screaming. Thank you. I’m in CT.
@empresskristine it's hard for me to imagine what to are going through. I have neuropathy that came out of nowhere over two years ago (the symptoms started right after I had Covid that they said was a new strain at that time so this may me the result of long term effect of Covid). It has progressed and become more and more severe. It is affecting my legs and now my arms - pain, burning and weakness. The Lyrica is no longer effective. The neurologist suggests adding Cymbalta but I am hesitating because of the side effects plus it interacts with the blood thinner I am taking for atrial fibrillation. Then only thing that helps me sleep is melatonin. I started with 3 mg but now I am down to 1 mg bf bedtime that I found is enough to give me enough hours to sleep and the pain doesn't wake me up. I feel sympathy for your pain and hope you find relief. I live in small town IL.
Your state has medical mj and you definitely qualify.
I’m just saying Theraplant 360X (H) cannabis concentrate is the bomb for nerve damage and radiculopathy. A rice grain dose squeezed into empty capsules that come with it is the most amazing relief with 0 side effects. Melatonin is for sleep not radiculopathy. I even get reimbursed by Workers comp because they’re both state programs not Federal. You can sit with a dispensary pharmacist for free. They will help you decide. It’s a free consultation what do you have to lose?
@plenty55 i am glad you found something to let you sleep = i found that 300 mg of gabapentin helps put me to sleep but then i still wake up at 3 to mull over the world's events before i go back to sleep,
Not to get into the pro=vaccine/anti-vaccine dispute, but you mentioned that you symptoms started right afer youhad the Covid shot. I lived in Portland during the time when I HAD to have two shots of whatever they were handing out in order to get into the grocery store or ride the bus. I avoided the booster. My friends - all on the brink of normal aging extinction as was/am I . were getting every shot available and wearing three masks to avoid being infected. I am very pro freedom of choice and didn't argue but I lost a lot of friends due to my own choice . Many of those same friends are suffering from what we now call "long covid" and are still wearing masks when they go out. I notice that some of the commentators here also mention that the neuropathy either started or got worse after a shot. I live with the mystery of why mine started and is getting worse. I go with my feet rebelling against years of walking on city streets wearing the wrong - but very fashionable - shoes .
Some one posted a vido about 3-4 weeks ago that answered the question you raised. I am so skeptical of everything these days being Ai generated, that I almost didn't watch it but found it did make sense. He is a researcher- who is working on neuropathy and is lacking funding since his belief is, neuropathy is considered incurable so there is no profit angle. He also wondered why the many of us who suffer from neuropathy are not demanding that funding goes to neuropathy research. He indicated that we suffer in silence so few know how severe a problem neuropathy is ,and how many of us there are. As I said, knowing how profit is a huge motive for funding anything - think weight loss drugs = I found him to be very believable . Maybe the person who posted that video can post it again.

1 Reaction@revdorth are you talking about the video I posted on the first page of this thread or another one? It definetely is not AI so no worries on that end. If so here it is

“ He indicated that we suffer in silence so few know how severe a problem neuropathy is”.
Yes I keep saying this as well. Everyone knows for example what MS is (im not comparing conditions) but while Neuropathy can be just as debilatating it isnt as well known. Ive had a neurologist tell me its not a big deal when I can barely walk and look like a skeleton. Thats not acceptable. There hasnt been much progress since the 90s with gabapentin and lyrica and that only works for pain for some. I don’t care that it’s not cancer or heart disease (well it actually can cause cardiac autonomic neuropathy) we still shouldn’t be just told to just live with it and its not a big deal. Neuropathy can get very bad as many of you know. I had no knowledge of it before being diagnosed. I was positive I had MS

1 ReactionYes. High vitamin B12 coates nerves with insulating myelin. But sadly alcohol removes it.
@plenty55 You are very likely low B12. That vitamin renews nerve insulation. Myelin. Alcohol stops it happening. Don't know why.
