Laproscopic hysterectomy: What helps with recovery?
I'm having a laproscopic hysterectomy on 9/26/26 at Mayo because I have serous uterine cancer and I'm wondering if a belly binder is something I should purchase before my surgery? Any other suggestions that may help me get through is surgery would be greatly appreciated.

@naturegirl5 Thanks so much for your feedback. I think it's human nature to be anxious but a I'm pretty strong willed woman so I'll be ok. I'm not jumping for joy but life happens and I'm doing my best to remain positive. Since it's my second cancer in one year I do feel overwhelmed at times but again sometimes life hits you. I do think I'll be looking into finding a mentor in the near future. As strong willed as I am I'm not super woman and at times I fall short. We shall see where this journey takes me. In the meantime I leave it all in God's hands.

2 Reactions@1995victoria Thanks so much for your feedback. I bought everything you spoke about so I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Plus I'm blessed to have my so flying in tomorrow and he'll be with me a couple of weeks so I'm covered. I'm extremely blessed to have such a great son and family. Now I say my prayers and leave it in God's hands.

2 ReactionsI was given one at the hospital. I kept it on the first couple of days but didn't feel it was needed beyond that. I was surprised how quickly I was up and moving about. I hope your recovery is as swift. Of course, there's a lot of internal adjustment so take it slow with bending, reaching, etc.
I'm more surprised by how exhausted I am. Get lots of sleep!

2 Reactionsmine was laparoscopic and honestly i was up and moving albeit slowly the next day. only spent one night in the hospital after it i didn't need one but i did need depends for a few days afterwards...just have to take it easy for a few weeks, don't be bending and reaching and stretching to much. IF you THINK you're ready to do something wait a week 🙂

2 ReactionsI had a laproscopic hysterectomy and it all went well ...I am a stage 4 ovarian cancer patient ...I found the hardest thing to do was get up from bed ...Once I was up shuffling along it was not bad at all ...I did rely on Tylenol ( 650 mg) that helped plus rest ...No one suggested a binder to me I don't know if that would have made a difference ...I am wishing for you all the best and will keep you in my prayers...I remember after about a week the discomfort was alot less ...God Bless ...Mare
