Experiences of taking prescription Linzess for chronic constipation
I have had chronic constipation for several years and have tried a lot of different advice from doctors, but none of them have worked in any consistent manner. Wondering what kind of results users of Linzess have experienced.

There are so many variables it is difficult to give a helpful answer. I can’t be sure if it is the Linzess but after months on the higher doses, consistent timing, and more water, my constipation is much better.
I did read as many comments on Mayo Connect that I could find on how people responded to and used Linzess.
Consistency and water were recommended often. Water is important anyway with most constipation.
Thank you for sharing your experience. That is very helpful. Much appreciated.
Hello, I just started Linzess a couple of weeks ago. Have not experience any positive results yet. The Gastro doctor wants me to have a colonoscopy. I agree to have it done. I am 75 years old. Been dealing with constipation for years.
@georgemorley sorry for the delay in responding. The answer is “no”. Additionally, there is no difference in my constipation. I wonder if there is a motility disorder. Anyway, I stopped the Linzess last week after over a year as an experiment and will resume in a week to observe any differences.
@tidimae1 - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Sorry to hear your Linzess has not resulted in any positive results yet.
Glad to hear you are seeking and following your doctor's advice about the colonoscopy. Hopefully, this will provide more useful information.
I am tagging @georgemorley @cezanne in this conversation as well as @jlharsh, who may have some thoughts on your experience with Linzess.
Any changes over this weekend in the effects of the Linzess, tidimae1? When will you be having your colonoscopy?
