Zoledronic acid

Has anyone here had the infusion and how well or not did you take to this injection?
I know that each persons results are individual to their own issues and health issues .
Just wondering what the overall consensus is for this.
I am about to have my first one this coming October.
Thank you all for your time .
All the best to everyone here.
Cheers

@wilweten there was no follow up support from my specialist.
I have basically gone it alone since the Evenity program.
I have been on n an intense resistance training program and all the supplements recommended, ALGEA cal plus , magnesium, high calcium intake , vitamin d & k2 , high protein.
My DEXA scan this past May still showed an increase in bone density and my back feels fine.
My bone density scan in January also showed improvement.
I feel like I am able to do this without the medication and I am very concerned about starting another round of medication.

@bonebuddiesforlife I'm so happy to hear that you're one of the lucky few that have managed to do so well.
You may consider regular (like every 3 months) P1NP/Ctx blood tests to see that the action of osteoblasts and osteocasts remains favorable.

I will definitely be getting more bloodwork done In The next few months to see where is stand .
My kidney function is fine so that won’t be an issue.
I’m not opposed to taking the medication, I just need to be aware of where my markers are at regularly.
Unfortunately we have to do our own homework , Dr’s seem to only want to prescribe, not get to the root cause of why the bones are breaking down.
Have you heard of clinical trials of EB613
EB613 is an oral peptide medication—specifically a PTH (1-34) peptide, also known as teriparatide. It is an osteoanabolic peptide, meaning it stimulates the body to build new bone.
It’s been proven highly effective but is still in the clinical stage.

@shocknot26 1 year of Evenity . A one year break and now possibly Zolendronic acid .
I know after 3 years you can take a break from it but I’m wondering if you can ever stop completely?

@bonebuddiesforlife I am in shock that you did not take anything after Evenity to lock in your gains.

I’m due for my 2nd infusion of Reclast in October. My DEXA was recently done -3 . I’m following my CTX to actually see the best timing on taking my 2nd infusion.

@bonebuddiesforlife that’s great you are doing good.
I can’t believe some of these MD’s with no follow up. I also haven’t heard from my endocrinologist regarding my DEXA for any follow up on my next infusion.

@kristie2 it’s really unfortunate. I have with a great deal of help from my wife doing my own research and finding my own solutions, both on here and the facebook group I follow.
It’s people like you and many others that I’m able to make sense of it all .

@shocknot26 I too am a 69 years old male that was diagnosed with the onset of osteoporosis at age 66. I have had Ankolosing spondylitis since the age of 18. At the age of 58 I was diagnosed with bladder cancer and again in 2011, 2015, 2018 and 2023 and the received my infusion in June of 2024. My legs have always been an issue as well as burning sensation since I had a Urolift placed in 2024. Never have I had an issue with my shoulders, left foot, nausea, exhaustion, fatigue and this continued constant shocking sensation in my groin area as well as my butt area; especially if I cough, it’s instant! There are days I’m just totally exhausted and frustrated. I wish I never had received this infusion because once it is inside you there is no cure for the symptoms that I know of to date; especially when your endocrinologist says that my symptoms are not caused by the infusion, sends me to rheumatologist who finds nothing and sends me to neurologist who finds nothing and suggested I go back to my endocrinologist!

@dannyandebbie sometimes it truly feels like a never ending circle of frustration. I wish you all the best days ahead. These decisions are very difficult. Thank you for sharing your experience.
